Being a Mexican, I´m always suspicious about Mexican food in other countries, but my family and i wanted to dine in a Mexican restaurant to celebrate our Independence Day. Considering other famous restaurants were fully booked (Mexique, Topolobampo) we found good ratings about this restaurant. We expected some sort of celebration for the holiday, but found a half empty restaurant... More

What a lovely meal we enjoyed at this restaurant! The flavors were excellent, the service professional, attentive, and unobtrusive, and the wine list extensive and wide-ranging. This was a perfect end to our five days in Chicago. We have visited numerous Mexican restaurants in Chicago, including the most "well-known", and we find the Salpicon to be the most outstanding. Several... More

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to: excellent margaritas, guacamole, langoustines. Additionally, the outdoor terrace is lovely.

This is absolutely the best meal my wife and I had in Chicago. The food is excellently prepared. And the choice of tequila are amazing! Highly recommended!

I hadn't been to Salpicon for a while, so decided to stop in with friends and introduce them to a restaurant that I have always thought set a high standard in traditional Mexican cooking [vs. Tex-Mex]. Good news is that the high standard remains. Our appetizers and entrees were universally well prepared and delicious. What I love about the restaurant... More

Definitely not your ordinary burrito and fajitas joint, we found the food at Salpicon delicious and refined but unpretentious, just the kind of Mexican food that will give you reminiscence of nice meals back home. Not cheap, as one can imagine, but worth to try. The tequila list is extensive and it features some really high end drinks, it also... More

Having been in operation over 15 years, Salpicon has earned the right to rest on its laurels, but it doesn't. The wine list is extensive, as is the tequila selection. Mixed drinks do not skimp on ingredients. Food is spicy as you would expect it to be, but the wait staff does an excellent job of guiding you according to... More

We were visiting Chicago for a weekend and a friend recommended we try Salpicon after giving us a phenomenal review. He was absolutely right! Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Wonderful steak and incredible dessert. The staff was so attentive, and truly went above and beyond. We can't wait to go back to Chicago so we can come back to Salpicon!

Went there for Retaurant Week and inspite of my extremely low sodium requirements, I had the best Mexican Food sine Rick Bayless's. Of course, the chef here worked with Rick Bayless and I think has surpassed him.
