Having been in operation over 15 years, Salpicon has earned the right to rest on its laurels, but it doesn't. The wine list is extensive, as is the tequila selection. Mixed drinks do not skimp on ingredients. Food is spicy as you would expect it to be, but the wait staff does an excellent job of guiding you according to... More

We were visiting Chicago for a weekend and a friend recommended we try Salpicon after giving us a phenomenal review. He was absolutely right! Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Wonderful steak and incredible dessert. The staff was so attentive, and truly went above and beyond. We can't wait to go back to Chicago so we can come back to Salpicon!

Went there for Retaurant Week and inspite of my extremely low sodium requirements, I had the best Mexican Food sine Rick Bayless's. Of course, the chef here worked with Rick Bayless and I think has surpassed him.

I love everything about this place. The service is professional, the atmosphere is good... but it's the food and wines that keep me coming back. Fabulous chow and an amazing, although pricey, wine list. Also enjoy the margaritas here. All the food is excellent but if they have the quail don't miss it.

We were in the mood for "high end Mexican food" and grabbed a reservation here for after the play we were attending. We were seated in the back corner which suited us just fine. The service was fast and attentive. The prices were a little on the high side but that is to be expected when you're in the city.... More

I'm finally reviewing Salpicon, after several visits over the last decade. The quality, innovation, and attention to detail in the food preparation has never faltered, the service is good, the selection of Tequilas is a highlight. It has become one of my must-visit restaurants when I can slip away on a business trip. I've been happy to introduce friends who... More

I ate here with friends on a slow weeknight. There were only one or two other occupied tables. Service was attentive and the margaritas delicious. Food was unmemorable but that may be in part due to the delicious margaritas that are clouding my memory. I wouldn't rush back but would try Salpicon again.

Dinner in this cozy place was a delight. The staff was welcoming and the food was really good with complex flavors throughout the dishes and sauces. Truly a step above many Mexican places. Easy to find and has great outdoor seating weather permitting. Have a margarita the selection is great.

My wife is Mexican, and we have eaten a lot of Mexican food in 30 years of marriage. Salpicon ranks as one of the best, though it is not inexpensive. We wanted a special place for her birthday dinner, and we found it. For an appetizer, the trio of small tamales was outstanding, and enough for two. The guacamole was... More
