Authentic Italian

Great authentic Italian food. It is like Chicago was long ago. Super service goes alon with the good eats. The pictures on the walls are fantastic. Keep your back to the wall because this is old school Chicago Italian. :-)

Authentic italian dishes combined with simple, warm atmosphere makes for excellent dining experience. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered, the simple dishes are just delicious. They are a great combination of comforting and impressive! Simple style italian that earns repeat visits.

I have been here 3 times and have not had a bad meal yet. I'm kind of a big eater and never left hungry. You have to try the calamari. The wait can be a little long so make sure you have reservations. Waite staff is very knowllegeable and most have been there several years.

I had to schedule a dinner (for 20 people) for some of our out of town reps. we were put in the back room along with the rest of the other restaurants guests. But not a problem. Our service was wonderful. With their help we ordered appetizers, dinners, deserts and drinks. Even though it was a bit tight no one... More

La s Carola is a nearby neighbor! So a mainstay for us particularly if we have guests. A small place in the winter months, but warm and inviting. In the summer, there is considerably more "outdoor space" which is great in the more moderate weather months. The foods is consistently good to great! The service matches and the food selections... The food here is unrivaled! The owners Joey and Armando are always in house welcoming you and making sure your experience is top notch! I have never had a dish here that wasn't spectacular. Be prepared to wait a bit due to it's popularity. You never know which celebrity you may find dining there on any given night. Lunch is... More

I was raised in an Italian home, so "real" Italian food is the only Italian food I know. It's location is not so great, and La Scarola is not going to win any style points for its exterior, but who cares? I'm there for the food, not to write a review for Architectural Digest! Walking into La Scarola, I had... More

Took my entire family of seven for a night out and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Seafood, pasta, veal to name a few of our dishes, with all people very satisfied with the servcie and delicious food. We will be back! Big fan of this restaurant. Character galore! A bit loud, but feels like family dinner.

What a great place. Thanks to fellow TA writers we went for dinner and were really happy we did. This is no fancy place. It' crowded, lively, and has a great vibe. The food, service, atmosphere, and even value, added up to a great dinner. Can't wait to go back

Went this past Sunday evening based on tripadvisor reviews and we were absolutely delighted with our meal. Appetizer was sausage and peppers and they were terrific....my wife is Italian and she said just like mama used to make....you know...those grilled peppers with a bit of charring....and delicious sausage. My wife had the Peto di Pollo which she really enjoyed...and I... More
