Love La Scarola

We ate at La Scarola twice last week and we will keep coming back every time we are in Chicago. Armando makes you feel like family and the food is wonderful. Went there last Friday, 19th of June. Was told that it is a must try place. Always been on my must visit list. Went along with my wife and two kids, 17 and 10. The atmosphere is very happening. Jeff Armando is amazing and he had tequila shots with me. My steak was not cooked perfectly and had to be... More

Visiting a friend in Chicago and asked for a casual Italian Restaurant -- well this place was interesting - we arrived at 8pm and we did not get seated until almost 9pm -- ok they were busy a good sing right -- no don't let the pictures on the wall fool you this place is very dated and not the... I love this place... its a small, neighborhood place. Good place to feel like your dining in Chicago 40 years ago, with good food and cozy feel. Go here with "family" and enjoy. I wouldn't recommend this place for large groups.

The service was great, I was part of group of pharmacist in a meeting, we had the opportunity to visit the kitchen area. The Steak Vesuvio was delicious. I highly recommend to visit this restaurant.

we've been to italy a couple of times and this is the most authentic italian pizza we had in chicago. perfect crust and nice combinations and flavours. Selection of wine and beers is OK, just useful.

While there was a mix-up with the reservation, the owner found us a table and comped us with an excellent antipasto salad. The ambiance is classic old-world southern Italian, the food was delicious with plentiful portions, the staff were very attentive and the prices are exceptionally reasonable for such high quality food. This is the 'go to' restaurant for an... More

La Scarola is a locals hangout that doesn't (need to) advertise. Find it, make reservations, and go for an authentic Chicago Italian meal that rates with the best anywhere. The ambience is small, tight, jammed, and very jovial. Don't worry, you will enjoy being part of the crowd. The meal starts with the bread, which is fresh baked locally, crusty... More

We're sold. La Scarola continues to deliver the most delicious food in sumptuous servings with the most attentive staff. It's that simple. Among other things, friends we brought with knew of cannolis but shied away because they were used to getting them with soggy shells at so many other places. So I ordered one to share. Crisp shell and fresh... More

When you first drive up to La Scarola on West Grand, you think there must be some sort of mistake. This can't be the home of a great Italian restaurant, you think. The surroundings aren't exactly nice, the building itself is very plain (some might even say ugly) and the sign is dirty and tarnished. But once you go inside,... More
