You should definitely make reservations for this place. It gets really crowded and the tables are tight. I really wanted to love this place after reading all the great reviews. It wasn't bad but it wasn't mind blowing either. It seems they make everyone wait by the bar even with reservations. It's really smoky in that room so being seated... More

As other TA reviews mentioned, the atmosphere and ambiance is not why you go here. You go for the food. The portions are large enough to share and prices reasonable. Once seated, the food comes out at lightning speed so plan accordingly. We had the fried artichokes and they were good but not great. We were expecting full artichoke(s) not... More

This little restaurant serves wonderfully delicious classic Italian food. It's a small space and the tables are closely set. The service was impeccable; not intrusive but our server (Victor) quickly anticipated our needs. The grilled octopus appetizer is worth a try, I could have eaten 2 for my supper. The escarole soup is light and tasty. My dining companion had... More

This restaurant is spectacular! If you're looking for a homey, casual feeling with out of this world Italian food, go to La Scarola! I ordered the Penne alla Vodka and substituted the chicken for shrimp. It was hands down the best vodka sauce I've ever had! My husband started with the Pasta & Fagiole soup, it's the best in Chicago!... More

This place is old school Italian. It has great food and service and you can usually find street parking. Tables are close together so folks feel free to comment on each other's food. It's not especially romantic but it has a lot of character and delicious food.

The establishment was recommended to us by friends. We simply loved the atmosphere and service. The pizza was delicious and it's on the list of places to dine when we are back in Chicago.

Veal Franco was some of the best veal I've had. Owner Armando is a great host and offered to do shots with us during dinner. Try their excellent cannolis to finish off the night.

We dined at La Scarola on a recent Sunday night in December during an anniversary trip to Chicago. Made reservations through the concierge at our hotel and were seated immediately upon arrival at a table smack dab in the middle of the far back dining room. The table looked like it was dropped down in the middle of the room... More
