Noisy Authentic Atmosphere with Good Food

There's a wildness and clamor to this place so be ready for noise and lots of action. It's a community in action -- we saw big extended families as well as couples out for the night. My friend and I arrived to join an old friend there. They offer free valet parking. It's a pretty big restaurant and has a lot of seating. I ordered grilled chicken kabobs with vegetables. They were very good. The total came to $15.41 I would return here.

We have been going to this gem for over 35 years! They moved to a larger location more than a few years back. When this happens often the food gets worse. It got better. The wait staff is wonderful. Not much on the menu we don't enjoy. They have eclectic patrons from locals to tourists. This is the first place... More

While neither the service nor the food are outstanding, I did greatly enjoy the grilled octopus (one of my favorite treats) served at Greek Islands. Crispy and charred in places, but extremely tender, and with a flavorful olive oil drizzled over the bite-sized morsels, this dish alone would have me return to this restaurant whenever I have the opportunity in... We went on a crazy-busy Saturday night and had to wait an hour for a table, but the service was still competent and attentive and the noise level manageable. The wine and the food were excellent, and there were a ton of good vegetarian options.

We loved this Greek restaurant. This is not a tourist haunt. Many families and locals were having dinner. My husband had a lamb dish which was excellent. I had beef moussaka. The dish was terrific. Prices are very reasonable. Food is very fresh. Atmosphere is a good. Restaurant was very roomy and tables were not too close together. In Greek... More

Delicious and fun authentic Greek food. Stuffed grape leaves and Gyro Meat combination was wonderful. Everyone in our party of 4 had a different combination plate, all enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed the food here. I had the braised lamb shanks and it was wonderful. Their specialty (which I saw, but didn't have) is some sort of flaming cheese appetizer. The waiter was VERY friendly and chatty ad we had a nice pleasant interchange with him. We made a reservation (on a Friday night) but didn't really need one.

Had grilled octopus, saganaki, lamb loin, gyro, garbanzo soup. Lamb wasn't very flavorful, gyro also, not well seasoned. Octopus also not well seasoned. Everything was edible, nothing memorable. Typical surly waiter. Had better gyros at holes in the wall joints on the northwest side. Wouldn't go back.

Great atmosphere. The flaming cheese (Saganaki) is a MUST-TRY. They light it up and say "Opa!" I was unfortunately not feeling at my peak this night on vacation, but loved the greek salad and dolmades (stuffed grape-leaves) with a nice egg-lemon sauce. My fiance had a special with thinly sliced sausage with vegetables and a flavorful red-sauce. Even though it... More
