Brightened restaurant with traditional specialties

After a couple of years away, we dropped in for a simple evening meal. We enjoyed it half-sized plate and an entree of gyros. The gyros was really good, and we appreciated the new decor, much brighter than the previous decor.

This has been my one and only Greektown restaurant since 1971!! I have not been to Chicago in several years and the Parthenon was at the top of my list. First of all, the bread tasted stale. The Greek salad was tasteless. The egg lemon soup was so-so. The desserts were soggy, lacking honey drizzle. We ordered the complete dinner... More

I am originally from Chicago and for years the Parthenon was my go to Greek Restaurant. Recently, I was in Chicago and went here with 12 friends. I still love it! I ordered fish roe, which is one of my favorites and it was as good as I remember. Everyone enjoyed there food and the ambiance was wonderful. If you... More

Superior service, always. Delicious Greek food, beyond compare. Homey, welcoming, family oriented venue. Certainly you could have a quick meal if short on time but I would recommend to sit back, relax, let your waiter take care of you...and enjoy. For vegetarians, they have the absolute best vegetarian moussaka I have ever had.

Have not been here in a couple of years. Same great waiters, same menu but, my favorite "chicken rigonati" did not taste the same. It tasted and looked as if the chicken and potatoes were boiled and then heated with the sauce. As I remember it, the chicken and potatoes were oven roasted and looked "golden brown". Maybe the next... More

Wow, loved Greektown! This food was great and we had Greek wine for the first time which was great too. The server showed us a map of where Greek wines were made and we picked the one we wanted from the map. Delicious fresh tsaziki sauce and warm pita was the highlight. Had a fantastic artichoke lamb dish.

This is a great Greek restaurant. I have been coming here since the seventies and have visited it many, many times, never disappointed! On several occasions, when I lived in Austin, Tx, I took the train up to Chicago, had lunch at The Parthenon, and took the next train back to Austin! A bit extreme, but that's how much I... More

Twenty year ago, the Parthenon use to be the only place I would eat in Greek town. We started branching out to other restaurants but recently decided to have our anniversary dinner at the Parthenon. As soon as we sat down the waiter was on us for our drink orders. I already knew which wine I wanted but he seemed... More

Excellent Greek food in downtown Chicago. Everything was fresh, well prepared and seasoned. Homemade Roditas is very good and sneaks up on you ! The restaurant is not fancy nor pretentious, casual dress. Lamb is king here, so if you like lamb, I don't think you will be disappointed. Service was attentive without smothering
