A Jibarrito is a must for everyone coming to visit me to have. I've had all the versions of Jibarrito's available, chicken, pork, beef, and seafood. The seafood is doused in garlic due to a sauce it comes in. The beef is my personal favorite. Be prepared to have the garlic smell and taste stick with you after you are... More

My girlfriend and I recently traveled to Chicago for a long weekend and to go see my beloved Mets at Wrigley Field. The first thing we wanted to do before we even checked into our hotel room was to check out Borinquen Restaurant and have ourselves an authentic Chicago Jibarito from the home of the jibarito. Unfortunately, when we got... More

This is a great place if you like (or want to experience) Puerto Rican food. Try the Jibarito (in essence, a sandwich made with flattened, fried green bananas). You may want to drink a very cold Good O Kola Champain.

The first jibarito I ever ate was at Borinquen so I do not have any other to compare it, but this one was outstanding! The steak jibarito was probably the best sandwich I've ever had. The arroz con gandules was also outstanding. My partner and I ordered an extra side of it and we were glad we did. Everyone should... More

I had eaten at Borinquen three years ago, but I really wanted to take my Australian friends when we were visiting Chicago this month. I warned them that it was nothing fancy, but it is all part of the experience. You walk in and head straight for the back room where a waitress will take your order. I've read other... More
