Terrific Experience

Lovely dinner out at this charming restaurant with an entrance located in an alley - really underscores the clandestine theme of the place as in the history of Absinthe. Our server was wonderful & made great suggestions! I had the seared foie gras appetizer which was very good. Hubby had cheese... read more

A quiet atmosphere, charming and elegant. Exceptionally well prepared food. Portions are moderate with emphasis on fresh ingredients and light flavors.

The best mussels ever. Great grilled octopus and beet salad. Very good steak, and sea bass. Nice, casual ambiance. Very good service. I think their wine list is short and on the expensive side, especially the per-glass offer but other than that, perfect - delicious food free of pretense. Arrive early to avoid crowds. If you can get the current... More

I had never heard of Café Absinthe. Found a Groupon offer and took advantage of a great deal. I went to the address and was surprised that you entered through the alley. A business associate and I ordered the Sea bass and the lamb. Food and service by Rachel were impeccable. The beet salad was incredible. Great service and food,... More

We had Groupon for 4 people prior to visiting the restaurant. It was our first visit there. The food always was exceptionaland so was the the service. The waiter did whatever he could to make us enjoy the evening. We really enjoyed the evening. We will definately be back as we have bought another Groupon already!

I had Grupon for 4 people prior to visit that restaurant. It wasn't our first visit there. The food always is exceptional, as the service. The waiter did whatever he can to make us happy. We were just bunch of happy campers after visiting that nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. Will certainly be back.

My girlfriend and I went to Cafe Absinthe on a Groupon, and it was well worth it! We got mussels for an app and Salmon/Scalops for entree. The food was fresh, delicious, and well worth the price. The ambiance was very romantic and the waiter was great. This place is a little pricey if there wasnt a groupon, but well... More

Four of us ate at Cafe Absinthe on 9/19/14 and I felt compelled to write a review this morning. Access to the cafe is off the alley, and even though I found that a little weird, once inside it is a chic bar and cafe with an extensive cocktail menu and wonderful food. Portions are generous, prices are moderate for... More

Our group of four ate here for the first time recently, for a celebratory dinner. We have eaten in large cities and small towns. Our waiter was excellent - friendly, funny, attentive. He found out we were celebrating and later brought a dessert that he said the chef wanted us to have 'on the house'. The place was a bit... More

Wicker Park, the area where this restaurant is located, is known to be a popular gathering spot for young professionals and hipsters. Lively night spots offering music, beer etc dot the landscape. This restaurant which is next door to one of the lively bars (and apparently co-owned) is a delightful oasis offering serious French inspired dishes at relatively modest prices.... More
