Description: Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.

Met friends for a late lunch (around 2:30 PM) at "Francesca's on Taylor" on their recommendation. We parked on a nearby street but saw a sign in the doorway that said they have valet parking for $10. The restaurant was cozy and modest in size. We got seated right away since there were not many people (most probably because of... More

While in Chicago we wanted to visit Little Italy on Taylor St. To our surprise the area had transitioned into a college town (UIC) - not much of Italy left. We were so bummed, but we decided to dine at one of the only Italian restaurants left in the area. Francesca's on Taylor turned out to be a pleasant surprise.... More

Being Italian, I have eaten at many different Italian restaurants. This is one of the best. Food is delicious! Service was great! My wife is a very picky eater and for her to say she loved it is saying a lot! I bordered the linguine with calamari and I asked the waiter if they could add wild mushrooms to the... More

I absolutely love this place and have been a frequent diner for a few years now. In fact I actually had a graduation party there a few years ago because I wanted to introduce my family to delicious Italian food. My favorite dish to get there is the Pastore. A lot of times it may not be on the menu... More

A gem near the medical district. Great atmosphere with live music top service and excellent food. Calimari not deep fried was one of the best. Next was tuna and also perfect.

We started we calamari- fried just right, crispy, not greasy, very tasty and tender: pizza topped with cheese and tomato - thin crust and delicious and melon wrapped with prosciutto - fabulous. I tasted the Salmon and bow tie pasta in creamy white sauce - the spices used just blends beautifully together. Finally, the tiramisu - out of this world... More

Francesca's on Taylor is my favorite Francesca's, with the exception of La Sorella Di Francesca's in Naperville. With a little pre thought call a few days ahead and tell them you want the skate wing and it will be there. I have ate at Francesca's for years and everything on their menu is exceptional, as is their service. I never... More

Loved the feel of the restaurant - All of the staff were great - especially the professional behind the bar ( that's where I had my dinner) but the pesto was average at best - I'm sure the other offerings are better. Sounds like this small chain went corporate vs locally owned .

Took the wrong train to get to what they call the "Little Italy" section of town so did a lot of walking to get to this restaurant which ended up being worth every step. First let me mention that "Little Italy" is not like what you would find in New York or in the North Beach section of San Francisco.... More
