Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.

Large amount of Gluten free pasta choices

I normally avoid Italian since I am not usually confident proper GF kitchen practices are observed. Their large GF menu online persuaded me to try a business dinner for 7 last night. What a wonderful surprise. Excellent service. Each plate was handed to me as I was told "gluten free." Fettuccine... read more

found this place on a whim walking the streets of Little Italy in Chicago. At the windows we saw sweet smallish tables with white linen. We checked prices and menu and. Yes! What great service we had and very tasty pork chops with white beans and stuffed pasta with crab. Both delicious

Where to begin. I had the carpaccio and it was wonderful. Then I had tilapia al fungi with was also incredible. The service was terrific. I made a reservation and never waited a minute. Northern Italian at it's best. There are 6 of them in the Chicago area so you really can't not find one. FIND ONE!

Very good food and service. Well worth the trip out of downtown. Try getting several appetizers and sharing. The grilled calamari is a real standout. Very extensive gluten free menu; the gluten free pasta with sausage and peppers was excellent, but the gluten free pizza was unremarkable. Save room for desserts! It's a bit small and noisy, but still comfortable... More

Made a reservation for Valentine's day as was our tradition. We choose this restaurant not only for its good food, but because when we make a reservation, the table had always been ready at the time we have reserved it. This year, however, was an absolute disaster. We arrived 5 minutes before our scheduled time to find the restaurant 30... More

My boyfriend and I ventured to the Little Italy neighborhood in Chicago with the hope of having a nice leisurely dinner. The food throughout the night was good but not outstanding. We shared an appetizer, the Prosciutto alla Norcina and ordered the Rigatoni and a Fillet special as entrees. We also enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine. The service was... More

My wife, son and I just finished an early day of sightseeing in Chicago on a cold windy day (go figure!). We were in the mood for a warm, cosy, down-home Italian meal. We couldn't have hoped for a better experience than Francesca's. We got there about 3:50, when the menu was changing from lunch to dinner. The owner /... More
