Description: Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.

We were in Chicago for a long weekend and picked this restaurant based on reviews. We did use valet parking - that was fine even though we are not used paying for it so much where we come from (Cincinnati). But it was probably worth it. We were surprised by how big this place was - quite an operation. I... More

Were visiting Chicago to tour colleges. Chose Francesca based on reviews & location. Used valet parking (paying for valet parking is not common on Long Island where we are from) because the streets were packed with snow & ice. Host greeted us in a most friendly way discussing the NY sports team jacket I was wearing. Upon being seated, service... More

Six of us had dinner here, and only one thought they had a tasty meal - the pizza (I tried it, it was good). The appetizer of bruschetta was the best part of the meal. Only two desserts ordered, but the green apple sorbet was outstanding. Otherwise, four salads that were mediocre at best, with both ceasar's being bland to... More

This was a memorial celebration for 34 people, honoring my recently departed mother in-law. The people were great to work with. I hadn't been to this Francesca's in a couple of years. The food was terrific with a couple of great wine choices. Our waitress couldn't have been any nicer. We had a private room, very intimate, with tables of... More

I had a business lunch here with a colleague on December 6th. The services was excellent, friendly, and attentive, but the food was unremarkable. I gad the calamari salad and my colleague had the eggplant parm sandwich. Both were okay, but not in line with the excellent reviews for the evening food. For example the salad greens were soggy with... More

This is by far my favorite restaurant in the city. Chicago has hundreds of Italian restaurants yet I always flock to Francesca's. I've never once had a bad meal, the staff is always friendly. In all of the years that I've been frequenting this establishment, I've only had bad service once. The menu is always changing which is a plus... More

I was here for a business lunch and the food was pre-arranged. Our food was very good and service was fine considering the size of the group. I have also been here on the weekend for dinner with friends and have found the food to be good, but not 5 stars. The presentation is lovely and the atmosphere in the... More

The service was spotty. I felt like the waiter was going out of his way not to make eye contact. The food and the atmosphere were enjoyable.

My husband and I visit Francesa's often before we go to Bulls' games. Superb service. They get us out in time to make the game. The waitresses/waiters we have had are the best in the business! One occasion, I wasn't sure which of 2 wines to order, so the waitress brought me both, at the cost of only one. The... More
