You have to try it!

What a great experience, a classic diner, with incredibly funny wait staff! They are being purposefully rude, but you know its all an act, never offensive. We have a Chicago style hot dog that was incredible. great milkshakes too! You have to try this place out!

Our Chicago native friend recommended we eat breakfast at Lou Mitchell's. We're so glad we did. First off, grabbing your doughnut hole on the way to you table, love it! It was tasty too. A very unexpected treat. We also enjoyed the orange wedge and prune they brought to the table. Coffee was delicious! We used to get tasty coffee... More

Visiting my cousin in Chicago, shred took us to her favorite breakfast place. This is now my favorite breakfast place in Chicago. Greeted with a sugar doughnut and it got better. Possibly the best salami and swiss omelettes ever. Seemed like it was a 10th egg omelet. Place was packed as would be expected for a good breakfast place.

Greeted with hot powdered sugar donut holes when you walk in. Delicious treats and ala carte items available. Gives you the old school diner feel but treated like family. A great place to eat and very reasonably priced.

We walked here for lunch as we had a couple hours to kill waiting for the Amtrak. What a great diner experience. They held our luggage for us and greeted us with do-nut samples and we were seated immediately even though they were busy. Then they threw everyone a box of Milk Dud's. My kids were in love. They had... More

Big, fluffy omlets served right in the skillet. Good blend of healthy (organic yogurt parfait, egg white option for omlets, etc) and indulgences (great baked goods). Plus you get a free donut hole when you enter!

Wow! Great personal service. Fantastic omelettes! Don't miss this breakfast icon while in Chicago. Met at the door with a gracious attitude and it just got better from there.

My two-day vacation jolted to a positive start with a nostalgic, free donut hole appetizer (see photo). The 6:45AM breakfast at Lou Mitchell's had many unexpected highlights: (1) five perfectly poached eggs -- I ordered two; (2) huge plate of American fried potatoes with flavorful onions; (3) healthy and juicy orange slice with prune; (4) excellent bakery Greek bread, real... This is breakfast Amercian style. Greeted at the door with fresh donut holes (excellent) you walk into a diner type experience. Friendly, fast service. Food was a little greasy, but what is lacked in grease it made up for in salt. Wow. My hash and eggs were delicious; however, I think should come with a warning label. Best coffee? Not... More
