Part of the Experience

Fun atmosphere - long tables, sitting beside others. Diner style food, enjoyable.. just part of the fun! (great coffee, great service).

We are out of towners visiting our daughter who lives in Chicago and had just attended mass at Old St. Pat's church and we were looking for a place for breakfast and were planning to find someplace in another part of town until my daughter saw Lou Mitchell's advertised in the church bulletin and noticed it is just around the... While in Chicago we were invited to Breakfast in Lou Mitchells and it proved to be an enjoyable experience. On entering we could see a big Area that was full of diners. We were shown to a table promptly and while viewing the menu coffee was provided. The menu included a great variety of choices and all of us were... More

The all American Dinner experience with all the added extra's. Donuts at the door as a welcome, coffee on tap, fruit as a dessert and more coffee. The food was amazing, and although it's the typical large sized american food it's actually a good size that you don't feel completely overwhelmed by. We went for breakfast but if we had... More

Great local restaurant , very casual community table, booths and counter seats. Can be crowded at high times but waits are short. Local flavor, a Chicago tradition. Large portions and well prepared. Give it a try!

Found this place when looking for a good place for brunch. This place was very busy when we arrived but we were greeted with donuts. It did take around 20 minutes to be sat. We each got different plates ranging from omelets to pancakes. Everything was great and very large. You do not need to buy side items (unless you... More

We found this while googling somewhere for breakfast and I'm so glad we did! We got donut holes when we walked in and ice cream and milk duds when we walked out. A lot of history here. We sat at the bar and Beverly was our waitress, she was awesome!

We'd read about Lou's and decided it was a must-do one day for breakfast. It's at the start of Route 66 which, I guess, makes it iconic anyway and advertises itself as offering the best coffee in America. We were quickly seated in a great old diner style room. Our waitress was friendly but business-like and our breakfast didn't take... More

I had the house salad..it was huge! Prices are reasonable. The owners were sitting next to us, and they were very kind! The food is great, and the service is even better!

This is a must stop for breakfast. You may have a hard time eating anywhere else after eating here. A very American experience, sitting at the beginning of Route 66. Great place with excellent food and service.
