From drinks to desserts, everything about our meal was excellent. Loved the outdoor terrace seating, the service was gracious, present and refreshing. Each dish we ordered was mouth watering, fresh and beautiful in presentation. We will be back as soon as we return to Chicago.

Overlooking a pretty terrace this expensive Chinese restaurant at least showed promise. The first thing we noticed however was that there was no dress code, with several men especially in seemingly old and worn jeans and flip flops and it was dinner. That said the food when it came out looked good, but alas that was the end of the... More

I ate an early dinner here alone while in Chicago on business, and received the most courteous service I have ever received anywhere. When eating dinner alone, I prefer to eat early (5:00 or 5:30) before the restaurant gets crowded; it makes me feel less weird about dining alone. I tried to make a reservation for 5:30 through Open Table... More

We went to Shanghai Terrace with a friend for a special reunion. We are all duck lovers, so we ordered Peking Duck and Crispy Duck to share for the table, along with Dim Sum items. The service was perfect; attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere and ambiance were warm and inviting and not at all stuffy or intimidating. It would... More

My daughter desperately wanted some Chinese food and this was close to where we were staying, so we wandered in... to the Peninsula Hotel??? We weren't really dressed for it, and I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about dropping a lot of money on a meal with my 11 year old, but I have to say I'm so glad we came. The... More

We loved our meal here. My wife and I sat indoors since it was cold and windy in the windy city. Our dinner was delicious. The decor is lovely. The outdoor terrace must be awesome when conditions permit. I ordered a tofu and veggie entree for about $19 but other entrees often cost $35 or $40 here. Service is incredibly... More

The appetizers are quite divine and the dim sum is pretty much the best I have had. The wait staff is some of the best you can fine. Make sure to go after mid-April if you want to eat on the patio!

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
