Legend of spare ribs

Intend to try ribs here because of reputation and operate for long time. Staffs were mostly aging but full of experience. We order mash potatoes, spare ribs and coslaw. Must said all were delicious.

1 of the best restuarants downtown. Evertime I go I always sit at the bar. Most nights you will find Dean & Kelli pouring cocktails. They are very attentive and the drinks are great. The food is really good. I had the filet & crab cake . The crab cake was amazing and no filler all lump crab meat. The... More

All you need to know is cornbread, salad, cole slaw and ribs. If you are looking for ribs that are boiled then thrown on the grill and sauced for color and fall off the bone, forget it. But if you are looking for ribs done the right way and you actually bite into them then this is the place. The... More

We happened upon this place, and we are so glad! The atmosphere was historically Chicago, and the food was incredible. The cole slaw was the best my friends had ever had, and the au gratin potatoes were incredibly cheesy, and it was a good cheesy!! I had the pulled brisket sandwich, and it was wonderful!!! Very tender and flavorful!

This place has been around for decades, so I was expecting delicious ribs. They were very average--not the fall-off-the-bone kind of thing I had hoped for. The barbecue sauce was tasty, and I needed to add more for flavor. I thought the cole slaw was delicious. The au gratin potatoes had too much cheese on top. I love cheese and... More

My significant others father ordered food for us from here as a treat. We had a slab of ribs and pork chop dinner with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were good but the pork chop OMG really good nice and juicy and tender. The fries were average but the coleslaw was really good. I'm not sure about price because we... More

Made a ton of ribs in my day. ATE a ton of ribs in my day. I can honestly say that- You are paying(and paying dearly) for the name & atmosphere here. After an interminable wait, our food arrived. 1-look and sniff of the ribs. I smelled no real smokiness or char. My immediate impression- Boiled-baked ribs! WHY you say,... More

We were really hungry and had hoped for a good dinner after a long day of walking. I wish we'd kept walking. The positive first. My husband ordered the bbq sampler. The food was juicy and plentiful.more food than one person could comfortably eat. The waitress seemed nervous but she tried and I give her credit for that. I realized... More

For a restaurant that claims to be awesome, has been open for a very long time and has fed a bunch of famous people, I have to say but I wasn't greatly overwhelmed with joy or the desire to go back. I had their signature back back ribs. They were okay, but I expect more from a place who claim... More

Headed to a meeting in Chicago and met a great friend for lunch. He suggested Carsons and that is where we ended up eating. The restaurant was very eclectic, well organized and clean. The dining room was full of memorabilia and was great to look around at. The staff and cashier were all very friendly and engaged us both in... More
