Gene and Georgette was recommended as one of the oldest steakhouses in Chicago and being the reputation we went with the recoommendation. Not the best decision of the trip. We were greeted and promptly seated upstairs near the bar. All throughout the meal there were 4 to 5 waiters standing at the bar talking and not softly. They should have... More

A nice change of pace. Great wait staff. great food, fun location. Can't beat a restaurant with this much history in Chicago--a must try. I had never had "wet aged" beef--very nice. Love the potatoes and AWESOME mushrooms!!

The steaks were HUGE and the sides were delicious...if you like broccoli, you have to try it here...the seasoning was so good!! I got the bone-in filet and it melted in my mouth!

We travel to Chicago from Battle Creek, Michigan to enjoy the service, pasta and filets. We enjoy meeting frequent diners at this last of the all male unionized establishments in Chicago. Call ahead for reservations and you will be met with a firm greeting and hand shake! Ask for our favorite waiters-Juan or JJ. Love this place a lot and... More

Service was way to quick, and that was the bummer. Two minutes after collecting our menus our salads show up. Then the (delicious) steaks. We passed on desserts but did have a cocktail and bottle of wine + 3 sides. In an out in an hour. A bit to fast for me.

Tons of atmosphere. Real "Sinatra" old style Chicago Steak house. All the steaks are incredible. Try the garbage salad- its a great addition. Well practiced wait staff will make you comfortable and feel like a million.

We had a great meal here. Food and waitstaff were wonderful. It was also very conversation-friendly, in spite of the large number of diners. Loved the seperate small dining rooms. Gave it a homey vibe.

The food is great, the waiters treat us like royalty and the atmosphere is out of the world wonderful. It is our favorite family place to dine in Chicago.

Have always wanted to try Gene and Georgetti's and finally made it. We would give it a good rating, but will try other steak restaurants on our next visit to Chicago. Loved the atmosphere as it reminds one of a 1970s restaurant. We received prompt and friendly service. We found the meal itself to be average to perhaps slightly above... More

Was a bit of a letdown. I've heard about this place for years but never tried it. Our service was friendly but not overly so. We both ordered filets and found them kind of tastless....I guess I was expecting something more.
