Chicago has its share of great steak houses and G & G’s leads the pack. Using the original menu from the 40’s, this steak house is the real deal. Advertising on the front of the menu proudly states “Air conditioned for your comfort”. Surprisingly small by today’s mega-restaurant standards, the bar is filled with regular business diners at lunch, having... More

Classic steak house dating back to 1941. I arranged group dinner for business associates who had never been to this restaurant. This visit during busy trade show week.. We were seated immediately upon arrival and wait staff was fantastic. They gave the group exceptional service.. All of the food was great. 6 of the guys got filets and they were... More

The restaurant has a classic example style. The food is exceptional and the wines are reasonable priced. The waiters aren't anything to remember. We had the ribeye, broiled mushrooms and vesuvio potatoes, all were spectacular.

As soon as you walk in this restaurant you'll feel like in Italy. Staff is good and the Steaks are delicious.

Beautiful experience. Our board met for dinner at G&G's based on a recommendation from a friend. The service was excellent. My ribeye was wonderfully prepared, seasoned well, and had great flavor. Not sure what some of these other reviewers experienced, but my experience was not theirs. Our server was polite, knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor, and was attentive.... More

Although the service was very good, the steaks were disappointing -- not particularly tender & they were close to tasteless. No argument about prices. Steak houses are supposed to be grossly over-priced and additions such as potatoes, vegetables are always high. But, based on our experience, I would not return & will look elsewhere next trip. Hope this review helps.

We've been to G&G before and were always impressed with the quality of the steaks. This time was an exception. I had the half order of broiled lamb chops. Three chops that were surprisingly chewy and somewhat dry. The wife's filet mignon was nothing to write home about either. As usual, the salad was wonderful. Extremely busy, and not a... More

This is an old fashioned Chicago steakhouse. Dark, loud and mediocre food. The steaks are fair but not worth the price. Many other places to go in Chicago for better food and better atmosphere.

There are so many better steaks in Chicago it makes no sense to eat here. The best thing about the place is the classic sign out front. The main room is o.k., but you almost always get sat upstairs and the food is just so damn mediocre. And it ain't cheap. Skip it.
