This is a restaurante that runs since 1941, now Gene's family runs the operation. Wood paneled walls covered with photos (Sinatra, Obama and the likes). The pièce de resistance is the steak, nice but plain. Nice service. Mostly chicagoans.

The feel of the place is really great - at the very least one should go to G&G for that reason alone. However, as it says on the cover of the menue, it's a steak restaurant, the steaks were decent for the money paid, not fantastic. Deffinately stop in for some cocktails, enjoy the bar and restaurant area, have a... More

Gene and Georgetti opened in 1941 and enjoys great standing as a fine Italian steakhouse. It has a strong customer base, is always crowded, and is well known as a meeting place for business people, politicians, and celebrities. The food is highly acclaimed, especially the steaks, and is very expensive. There are two dining rooms, the one on the first... More

What a wonderful meal! Everything we heard on the Travel Channel was right on! The steak melted in our mouth, the angel hair pasta was wonderful, our waiter was great. The Décor is old Chicago which we found wonderful, the train going by right outside and we never heard it in the room we were in, We give 5 stars... More

If you like the pirate of the Caribbean kind of place, want to see a guy swallow a sword, or are more interested in the crown than what you are really paying for, stay away from G&Gs. If you want to know what an all around unreal meal is, crush it here. It is not just the steak, it's every... More

The food here is at best average. Tired lettuce, under-ripe tomatoes, pasty veal limone. Had to ask for the waiter to come take our drink orders, but once he did that, he was very attentive and pleasant. Décor is dated. I don't know why some people love this place. It was not over the top expensive (we didn't have a... More

Founded in '41, on N. Franklin St. I was introduced in 80's by Tom Shanahan and Ray Hall. Without either of them it's not easy (it's impossible) to get reservation at prime time or week end. It's oldest Italian steakhouse. I always order a vodka martini, and later, a 2nd. My shrimp cocktail is eaten before they bring my house... More

I had heard about this restaurant for awhile now and the the two friends I went with had head the same and we were excited to go. Definitely Old School Chicago Feel, it seemed a little tired. My food was good and I have no complaints but it didn't exceed the expectations I had. I ordered a Rib eye and... More

Gene & Georgetti's use to be fabulous. I can find the same steak for half the price at any number of joints. I use to love the creamed spinach, its now thin/watery and poorly seasoned. Its a shame to see a FORMER EXCELLENT steak house hit the skids. They are charging prices commensurate with their former standing --- I will... More
