I have always wanted to eat at one of Rick Bayless' restaurants, and I wasn't disappointed! My husband and I were expertly attended to by Tom. All his recommendations were on the spot. When I didn't love one of the wines (he allowed me to take a taste first), he immediately brought another one to my taste. We did the... More

It is a shame that the listing is for both Frontera Grill and Topolobampo. Both are great restaurants but the experiences can be quit different. Topolobampo is a top-of-the-line, fine restaurant while Frontera is more casual. I have to say that I generally do not find restaurants where the meal is $100 worth it. Traveling for business, I have certainly... More

If you love Mexican food - the big plate of refried beans and rice with cheese smothered whatever on a plate the size of a Thanksgiving platter.....THIS ISN'T IT. Thank goodness! Frontera Grill is so much better! The food is creative in the way it's prepared, the way it's served and the way it tastes. It's a full, sensory experience.... More

Went to this restaurant for brunch on a Saturday. It was busy but was able to get a table for 2 right away. The food was fine but fairly pricey for what you received. I think the best part of the restaurant was the coffee and the chips and salsa.

Second time trying this place and was equally impressed with service and food quality. A little pricey, but worth it. We were going to reserve on line but they didn't have availability for a Thursday night at 5pm so we just showed up and there was only a 5 minute wait for outside seating. Bar area is first come first... More

We visited the restaurant last time we visited Chicago and enjoyed it again this time. We were seated at a table in the bar area and enjoyed the activity. We split some chips and salsa and a street food sampler. Excellent flavor and quality. Out server was not as attentive as I would expect but still better than average.

Tried to make a reservation but there were no spaces. Turned up and there was a 2.5 hour wait on a Saturday night, so we sat at the bar and ate. The service was good despite the place being rammed. Drinks and food served promptly. Our waiter was very helpful. We chose a few selections from the street food menu,... More

Reservations were full two weeks prior to our travel so get them early. We took our chances and stopped by for dinner after exploring all day. We were very hungry and there was a 2-1/2 hr. wait. We were able to grab a table at the bar and the wait staff served us immediately. I'd like to go again with... More

Very good mexican food, we had the pork and duck and it was very nice. We also had summer guacamole which was great. Service was perfect and our reservation ready on arrival. The place was crowded already 1800 on a thursday.

I cannot express enough on how wonderful Topolobampo restaurant is. I cannot wait to make another trip to Chicago to visit this restaurant. The atmosphere "Excellent," the service "Excellent," the food, beyond compare. I am Hispanic, I cook Mexican food, but I have never been to a Hispanic restaurant that can take all of the well known ingredients associated with... More
