Party of 6. 3 of us were there on time and 3 of us were late. Host at Frontera was very understanding and waited past our 5:45 reservation. We were seated at 6:30. Margaritas are strong and average, not outstanding. You have to order your chips and salsa, not free, but that's okay. My steak was delicious, the salsa borracha... More

Frontera never disappoints and we have been coming here for over 20 years. We have never had a waiter/waitress that was not enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Love the vibe and atmosphere-not so crazy about the lines but they are worth it! Can never go wrong with any of the margaritas or the ceviche. This trip the mahai mahai enchiladas were... More

So first, these two restaurants share an entrance, but should not be listed the same for reviews. I've eaten at both now, both are very good, but completely different price ranges and experiences. Topolobampo was a fantastic couples night -- but basically $200 for each of us for the 7-course meal with wine pairing. The dishes were complicated but always... More

I hate to be the guy that gives this place a less-than-stellar review, and maybe my expectations were too high, but while the service was impeccable and some plates were great, I just can't say this was one of my dining highlights in the Chicago area, or anywhere else. For $220 for two of us (a couple drinks and tip... More

Recently my husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Topolobampo. It was just an amazing experience. The staff there made it super special. We had the five course tasting menu. Every item was delectable and presented with attention to details. This is undoubtedly one of the very best dining experiences I have had anywhere in the five continents.

We all decided to get the "perfect seven" course meal, which was a fantastic choice. All the dishes were superb and it was really interesting to see the pieces of artwork they matched on the walls of the restaurant. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere was perfect (I liked that it isn't too big or noisy). Definitely give it a... More

We actually went to Xoco, but I let them track me and this is how it comes up. I have been to all three and they are all fantastic. Xoco is outstanding and pretty reasonable money-wise. The time can be expensive on weekends but takeout is usually fast. The Salsa's are amazing, but the chips are not as good as... More

So good. Always my first choice when visiting Chicago. You need a reservation. Is hard to get a seat at the first come first serve bar. The guacamole is out of this world.

I can't really add much to the other reviews, but it is worth every penny for inventive and delicious food. Need to reserve way ahead, we could only get a lunch reservation a month ahead, and lunch was packed.

Rick Bayless is a genius and has proven worthy of all the fame and awards he has earned. After begging for a reservation on short notice and lucking out, my wife and I experienced the best meal of Mexican food we have ever sat through. We have been to Mexico many times and eaten at well known Mexican restaurants all... More
