Frontera Grill has some amazing dishes of authentic Mexican cuisine. Their Tequila menu is the most impressive I have even seen personally. Try traditional margaritas or venture out and try a Mezcal margarita, the smoky Mezcal is worth trying for sure. I would highly suggest reservations before going and they are definitely on top of their game as they will... More

We really enjoyed this place. The food was very good, service was fine and price wasn't terrible. The restaurant was very warm though and it made all us uncomfortable. We could only get a 9pm reservation so that was a setback as well, eating that late wasn't ideal. The food we had was very good though. Mexican items well done... More

We ordered 8 dishes in our party and shared/tasted all of them. We had very high expectations which were further elevated by the staff's description and good service. Unfortunately, a few dishes were acceptable and most were either salty or sour (lemon) or just plain. Zagat needs to review its ratings.....

Wow- visiting this place is nothing but a flavor explosion with no similarities to your average American Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are in a class of their own. The food is pure magic. The plating is artistic. Service is outstanding. The atmosphere is playfully cool. 5 stars through-out

Had a great multi-course dinner here with a business colleague, and it was fantastic. The only thing that disappointed me were the seafood dishes. Maybe it was an off night for the fish market or something, but the cod was utterly disappointing. Everything else was great, though!

Again, Frontera proves to be as good as you can get with Mexican food. Have eaten there a number of times -- every time I come to Chicago.

We live in the Chicago area, and dine here a few times a year. I don't think I've ever had anything that I didn't enjoy. Incredible. If you love the flavors of Mexico, you can't go wrong. They also serve the best margaritas in the city. My current favorite is the Oaxacan Gold. Grilled pineapple, mescal, vanilla....! The place is... More

I've had wildly mixed experiences with Rick Bayless. Loved Frontera Fresco, was underwhelmed by Xoco and actively disliked the Tortas Frontera at O'Hare. So how would Frontera Grill hold up? The food was quite good, but this place is crazy expensive. With tax and tip, it ran us about $50/person. It's slightly elevated Mexican food, man. I feel like that... More

We have watched Rick Bayless on public television for years in New Jersey and Chicago. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday for our meal. The upstairs was very busy so the staff took us downstairs. We had our own semi private table in the basement. It was phenomenal! The food was fantastic. EVERYTHING was excellent from the margaritas to... More

Always busy and there is a reason why. The food is creative, fresh and delicious. This is a lively, loud spot. The cocktails are as good as the food. Love sitting at the bar and watch every thing going on. Don't miss the ceviche trio.
