We stayed at Hotel Monaco for business & missed the free wine hour there so we decided to grab a drink at the bar. We sat a table in the window which provided good people watching. Our bartender Dan was very knowledgable and was able to recommend drinks based on what we ordered for dinner. I had the pork with... More

I didn't have a chance to try any of the food, but Eric at the bar made some fantastic drinks during my stay. When I was in the restaurant, I did see really good looking food come out of the kitchen.

We had a two for one coupon for breakfast. The service was great and the food really good. Even the jam was made from scratch. Great to place to eat if staying at the Wyndham Grand.

dickandjackie, So glad you loved your breakfast. South Water Kitchen is lucky to have Chef Waysok in the kitchen grilling, frying, mixing, chopping and all of the other brilliant things he does. We look forward to welcoming you back soon and I will be sure to share your review with our team. Cheers! Charlotte O'Donahue - GM More

We go to this restaurant every year between Christmas and New Year's for a nice lunch out with my teenaged kids and mom. Located as part of Hotel Monaco in the Loop, South Water Kitchen has a solid lunch menu of favorites (for the less adventurous eater) as well as more thoughtful or innovative fare. I appreciate the breadth of... More

My husband and I went down to SouthWaterKitchen for lunch and went to the Oriental Theatre for a show afterwards - great proximity to everything, we walked everywhere from this restaurant, plus lots of garages to park in near by. Our waiter was not the greatest, I'm pretty sure he came once to the table. Our busboy was so sweet... More

We had breakfast here the 3 days we stayed at hotel Monaco. The first morning I had the pumpkin waffles which were great. Nothing else ever quite lived up to that. The apple muffin and bacon were good and quick. My husband liked their bagels. Our waiter all 3 mornings was fast and friendly. I wouldn't do dinner here with... More

Went in for drinks to warm us up after walking in the cold. Bartender Dan made us some wonderful drinks. This place is on the pricier side, but you have to take into account that at least Dan is an artist at making these unique drinks with very fresh ingredients.

Wanted just a light supper, perhaps a couple apps. The parsnip soup was creamy and sweet, perfect comfort food on a rainy Chicago night (the small slice of bread served with the soup tasted dry and store bought). Deviled eggs perfect balance of texture and flavoring, actually quite filling. The beet flat bread fell flat. There was no earthy flavor... More

As a guest in the Hotel Monaco, we were given a free drink voucher to use at SWK. The night of our stay, we went to SWK to redeem the voucher.
