Tried the Prix Fixe Menu - Very Good

Cute restaurant near the Chicago river with excellent food. I had the deviled eggs, salmon and German Chocolate dessert. All were delicious. Would return here to try other things on their menu. Nice alternatives available.

Stopped in for a late dinner. It was within walking distance from our hotel so we gave it a try. Interesting menu. We started with the deviled egg appetizer along with the warm olives. Eggs were tasty but at $8 for 1 and 1/2 eggs it was pricey. . The olive app $6, on the other hand would of easily... More

We had breakfast here and were very pleased, the blueberry pancakes were delicious, the service was great and the prices were not over the top, would return to try dinner or breakfast again.

Portions are too big, food is either over-salted or under-seasoned (bland). Service was pleasant. It is what it is: a hotel restaurant. You can do a LOT better in Chicago.

I eat at South Water Kitchen often. It's a logical choice when I stay at the Monaco, but even when I don't, I often visit. It's a good spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but my favorite is lunch. The lower dining area is cozy, the upper one is bright and sunlit, and in the right weather, outside tables make... More

Just a short walk from the Fairmont, this restaurant was a nice place to stop for lunch. They had a combination of interesting menu items and old standards. For example, I had a PB&J Grilled Cheese which stands for pear, brie and blueberry jam on multigrain bread. Very good. My fellow diners had chicken breast sandwiches which were also very... More

We were staying at the Hotel Monaco and needed a late evening dinner so we grabbed an outdoor table at this restaurant. With a bit of a breeze and lots of people watching to enjoy it was a perfect setting for a light dinner. Our waiter was quick and the food did not take long at all. We shared a... More

A good location and a rather large restaurant chosen for an early dinner. Started with a local beer, strong and tasty, accompanied by "good old" deviled eggs. Some good "comfort food. Next was the SWK Burger made from beef cheeks which was very delectable. The burger was very large and the recommended way to eat it was to cut it... More

We were staying at the Monaco and ate Sunday breakfast al fresco at the hotel's South Water Kitchen. The intersection of Wabash and Wacker is great for watching people; the food was good but the service was slow--more time for watching, I suppose. I ordered the Greens Omelet which was uninspired. My companion's smoked salmon and bagel plate delivered. Best... More

We enjoyed the food at the south water kitchen. My friend had the pork with sweet potatoes and cooked greens. I had the roast chicken with potatoes and bruised frisée. Both meals were very very good. I did the prix fixe special and had A very good salad. The bread pudding was satisfactory but not as good as the other... More
