Wanted just a light supper, perhaps a couple apps. The parsnip soup was creamy and sweet, perfect comfort food on a rainy Chicago night (the small slice of bread served with the soup tasted dry and store bought). Deviled eggs perfect balance of texture and flavoring, actually quite filling. The beet flat bread fell flat. There was no earthy flavor... More

As a guest in the Hotel Monaco, we were given a free drink voucher to use at SWK. The night of our stay, we went to SWK to redeem the voucher. The restaurant was almost entirely empty yet we could not find anyone working to seat us. There wasn't anyone at the podium (and there were two entrances, one from... More

Interesting choices on the menu - well balanced and reminded me of comfort home cooking with a twist. Service is efficient and there was also a good choice of wines by the glass.

One would think that attached to a funky fun boutique hotel would be a restaurant with some equanimity. Not so for the pairing of South Water Kitchen and The Hotel Monaco in Chicago. The menu looks delightful (wild mushroom pot pie or Pear, brie cheese, blueberry jam sandwich)...execution faltered. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen.

The steaks are really huge, so are the prices. OK, they know how to cook them but who doesn't? Asked for broccoli florets as a side dish (thought that something lighter would make good) but they came covered with melted cheese. What a pity. But the fries were nice and overall: if yout hotel appears to be near, you do... More

We met family there as a surprise reunion. The staff were incredible in assisting us to pull this off. Their service was very good also. The food we found to be lacking in flavor. Overall it was good but not really good. Great location to the downtown hotels.

Dan is one of the best bartender's in the city. My favorite is the Mescal old fashioned. Freakishly good! They know their stuff when it comes to drinks. My wife and also had breakfast which was amazing as well. Great selection of juices, fresh!

The Staff was accommodating while I waited to be greeted drinking Coffee and eating Toast for My Wife to join me for our first meal of the day. I chose the traditional Eggs Benedict, it was delicious

My wife and I went last night before a concert. The decor is very nice, and I was quite happy that from 6:00 until 7:30 the restaurant was quiet despite being busy. We had a booth and never had to raise our voices to talk. Very nice. We started with the Brussels sprout salad in mustard vinaigrette with cheese, nuts... More
