Going out to eat isn't just about the food. Although our meal here was excellent, the lovely light-filled room, curvy, comfortable banquette seating and connecting with a skilled server all combined to make this one of our favorite evenings in Chicago. While taking our order, our waiter Dom established we were from out of town; and on learning we were... More

It's on the ground floor of the Hotel Burnham (also recommended). They have inventive cocktails, a decent selection of wines by the glass and a good breakfast spread. It gets busy at times but the service is friendly and unhurried.

I loved the menu of inventive cocktails, and that they told which staff member car up with the combo. There's a pretty good wine list. The trout with ramps was phenomenal. Two other fish dishes were very good. Decent wines by the glass, though not much selection.

Our party was a group of five college roommates, enjoying an early dinner before a nearby play. We shared the plate of assorted cheeses served with strawberry rhubarb jam and marinated white raisins, great variety, all delicious. Our entrees were either lemon sole in papillotte or pork loin served with asparagus, peas and pea shoots in a lemon and bacon... More

They were able to accommodate a large party, and it was convenient as we were staying at the hotel. Food was very good.

We dined for brunch on Father's Day. My husband was through his first cup of coffee before the server brought cream as requested when we ordered. His coffee was only refilled once during the meal. The breakfast burrito should've been called a lettuce burrito and overall, the food was bland. Our server seemed preoccupied and a little aloof. For the... More

Took our party of 9 to Atwood last Saturday. Atwood being in the historically significant Reliance Building (now Hotel Burnham) has a decor that reflects the design at the time (late 1890's.). The tables are spaced far enough apart so you can actually hear each other and not feel you're in a noisy club scene. We started off with the... More

The Atwood Cafe is located in a beautiful historic building. For $22 you can Valet your car, eat a very nice meal and walk to the Theater district. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and not too noisy. You also have all the shopping in the Loop outside the door.

This is my second visit to The Atwood and I was pleasantly surprised. I last ate here on my previous visit to Chicago in March 2013 and was not impressed by the food or the staff. However, this time it was much improved. The staff were lovely, the menu more varied-vegetarians now have a decent choice and the food was... More

I've been dining at Atwood ever since they opened. I can't say I'm very pleased with the changes that have occurred in the menu. The prices have gone up, the menu has shrunk and the restaurant has moved toward the "small plates" concept. Nonetheless, we did like going there before theatre -- until tonight. The evening began when I requested... More
