The Atwood afternoon tea has been a family tradition for several years and this will definitely be the last year for tea. We love the ambiance, the history, the location, the service but the food for afternoon tea is.....well, consistently awful and disappointing. First of all, there isn't even enough to satisfy a child's need for a snack, and the... More

We had not been to the Atwood for many years and decided to have lunch there on a pre-Christmas shopping trip. The decor seems to promise comforting upper-crust pub food, and I think that's what they meant it to be. The problem is that the lunch menu is very limited with little room for substitutions. What we had to eat... More

We had an interesting twist on eggs benedict here - mine, southern, was a base of fabulous corn bread, pulled pork, and what an interesting dish. My husband had his on sourdough, with frisee, and the egg poached in red wine. Flavorful, great meshing of tastes. We had great service and the space is lovely. The bar looks like such... More

I've reviewed this restaurant previously and it remains an excellent choice before or after the theater. The ambiance is festive, the service usually prompt and attentive (although a little slow at this visit) and the food outstanding. This time, my broccoli appetizer was dry and fibrous, but the generously-sized short rib was tender and flavorful.

We have been here many times to dine and always had a wonderful experience. This time was very different. We had a reservation booked before a show that evening at the Chicago theater. We did inform them of this when we arrived and were told that it would be no problem. We ordered very quickly to give them plenty of... More

The Bar at the Atwoid features a huge mirror, wood paneling and a lively atmosphere. Ray, the evening bartender is super quick, cheerful and inventive. Great place to stop in for a warm-up drink if you're visiting the Loop at Christmas-time.

I have been here a few times before with my husband for dinner and we have had wonderful experiences. Yesterday I went for brunch with my five year old daughter. My favorite aspect of the Atwood is the row of loveseats that line the windows. They're wonderful, private spots for a date. They serve equally well for a business meeting. The entire vibe of the Atwood is refined and civilized. The food is very good and the service it high-end. The location is a little hectic so plan on using... More

No complaints. This was a lovely place to eat. The food was beautiful and delicious and reasonably priced. The decor was classy and the wait staff were polite and knowledgeable. I loved the brussel sprouts!
