Really unique location and good food

I went to Atwood for lunch and it was really good - everyone in my group enjoyed their meal and it was a bright, comfortable and engaging atmosphere. The range of options for lunch was really good - from salads to sandwiches to entree plates.

The waiter told me this restaurant had been newly renovated and it looks great. The big, sparking windows are wonderful for people-watching and make the space bright and welcoming. We ordered a series of tapas and salads which we found to be a bit overly-sauced, fussy, and strongly flavored for our tastes and the prices seemed high for the portions.

had one of their salads for lunch, with chicken. Very small portion. Mostly somewhat bitter lettuce, small bits of raw asparagus. Not recommended. Others at the table had a steak sandwich with French fries and onion rings. This was definitely a better looking dish. Not a big sandwich, but enough for lunch. Good service, very nice dining room.

Hi Cliff, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Your feedback is truly helps us get better. Sorry about the portion size of your salad. I will discuss with the chef. Next time get the CHOP salad as it is plentiful and is my personal favorites. Damien More

Food was good - small portions, so it can get a little pricey. But it's in a great location, in a beautiful hotel and they have great cocktails.

Stayed at The Burnham on a tour package for four nights which included breakfast each morning. Sliver of wood in my wife's oatmeal brought little concern. Continual wrestling match over why the toast and the English muffins were nearly untoasted. We were told: "That's the way we toast them". One of our number noticed a charge of four dollars for... It seems that they have redecorated since I was at this restaurant last, and so it no longer has the quaint and cozy decor that it used to. The new decor is disappointingly faux modern, but the food is just as delicious as it used to be, and the service is attentive, though occasionally intrusive. Good wine list.

morr316 - Thank you for taking the time to write us your feedback. I'm sorry you are unhappy with our new look. There was careful thought that went behind the new design which speaks to the history and the architecture of the building as we are a historic landmark. We are still adding elements to make it more warm which... More

Since I was staying at the hotel, I thought it made sense to dine at the Atwood. I only had time for the Breakfast but noticed tons of activity in the evening hours. My girlfriend joined me and we both agreed the menu had a bit of everything for that "Sunday Brunch" experience.

The restaurant is off the lobby of the Hotel Burnham, and serves up an interesting, imaginative meal in an intimate, pleasant environment. It's bright enough, while maintaining a romantic and classy intimacy, and a quiet ambiance. It has a slight air of formality, but is definitely not stuffy. I ordered the trout, which was lightly fried in a very delicate... More

Freshly squeezed orange juice is always a plus. Breakfast was both tasty and filling. The dinner menu is also available at the bar. I recommend the deviled eggs (great presentation), strip steak (cooked perfectly) and the fettuccini. Delicious.

We chose the restaurant because it is located in an important building in terms of architectural history. Before dinner with a speaker who had come into town from California we had provided a private tour at The Art Institute and a walking tour of downtown Chicago. Much to our surprise, we chose a restaurant that provided a terrific dinner. All... More
