Simple, delicious, unpretentious. No fancy, overelaborate dishes. Just a very good take on traditional dishes, like roast lamb or paella.
Fantastic dinner! A memorable dining experience. I hope anyone who truly appreciates and enjoys food will have the chance to visit here. It's def. worth it.
I had a beet salad as well as a small plate seafood dish, and both were incredible. The food is some of the best I've ever had and the staff are friendly and warm. This is the kind of restaurant experience I always hope for but rarely find. A definite "find." Highly recommended.
Wow, what can I say. Avec is a wood lined long rectangle, it is noisy, crowded, the seats are uncomfortable and you have to sit with people you don't know and they don't take reservations. So it is the food that brings people back and with good reason. The pork belly with the Sunchokes were divine, the prosciutto with kohlrabi... More
We ate at Avec for the first time on NYE with friends visiting from CT. Our friends are foodies and always excited to eat in Chicago. The meal was pre-fix with chip pice of wine and beer pairing. We all loved it and can't wait to go back and order off the menu! The service was wonderful as we'll. can't... More
See the title. Need I say more. Just go. If you want to be seated immediately, go early (IE right before 6 PM) otherwise you will be waiting for a time to be seated. You cannot make reservations
My cousin and I went here since it was close to the City Winery for a concert and of course it had excellent reviews. We started off with the chorizo stuffed dates which are incredible, we then had the brussels sprouts salad, the blow fish tail & the butchers steak all of the dishes had incredible flavors. This place serves... More
After dining at their sister restaurant Publican the night before, we enjoyed another incredible meal at AVEC the next night. Food is served family style, and brought out as it's ready, which promotes sharing. Blood sausage, rabbit, hake, dates, pork shoulder, each bite as good or better than the previous one. Definitely dine here.
Very fun and open. Tasty dishes with great wine pairings and interesting flavor combinations. Its bright and entertaining - not sure if they still don't take reservations, but I love that policy and I hope they still use it. It's always packed for a reason!
Unique menu food is excellent! This place is always busy! My husband is a chef and this is one of his favorite place to eat in Chicago. The chorizo stuffed dates are my number one choice, be sure to try them!!
