The pizza was good, but we waited for an hour to get a table at 2:00pm on a Wednesday. We were thrilled to finally get a table and were told when we ordered our deep dish pizza that it would take 45-60 minutes, apparently this is normal, but not thrilled after an hour waiting already. We stayed, but won't be... More

This is the deep dish pizza all are compared against in Chicago. We dined with another family and all the kids. They were slow as it was mid-afternoon, so adults got one booth and kids the other. Our waiter did an excellent job keeping things coming to the kids table as well as managing ours. He made great suggestions about... More

Tired when we arrived and ask for booth. Took 5 minutes for waiter to bring water and take order. They were not that busy. He did great in not letting us 'over' order. The 4 slice small was plenty for my wife and I. When he came by he just wasn't that focused on table. Looking around at other tables.... More

There are a lot of great places to eat in Chicago, but the best authentic Chicago-style pizza is found at Gino's East. Their downtown location seems a little dimly lit for your average family restaurant, but nothing to fear--that's just part of the ambiance. Bring a sharpie if you want to write on the walls to add your name to... More

I do not pretend to be a deep dish pizza connoisseur, but I prefer the Giordano one. Gino has way too much tomato sauce on it, to the point that half of the thickness of your slice is tomato sauce. The service was good, but the food was a dissapointment.

There were good and not so good things about this place. Good - we were able to make a reservation. Not so good - after we checked in the hostess forgot about us and seated a few other groups who just walked in ahead of us before we reminded her of our existence. Good - though they are known for... The deep dish just didn't live up to the hype for us. Part of it was the fact that we had tried the deep dish at Giordano's on Lake St. a couple days before. For my wife and I the biggest difference was with the crust. It seemed 3 out of 4 people I asked(cab drivers, hotel staff) preferred Gino's.... More

Absolutely loved Gino's East when I was a poor college student many (many) years ago. Was in Chicago for business this week and saw this location when I was walking in River North one evening. Brought back pleasant memories so I said "what the hell" and you know what? Just as good as back then (even though it was a... More

First the good news: We enjoyed the classic Chicago deep dish pizza and the antipasto salad very much. The new location is poorly designed and run. The acoustics are non-existent in the warehouse-like setting. There is no charm or beauty of any kind to the design. There were small high-top tables or booths, so we took a booth for our... More

Excellent pizza without the ridiculously long wait times of the home location. This is a two level location. Upstairs is better if you have a large family because they have more options. This is a great location that's not super packed yet because it is not yet well known. We were able to come on a weekend night and got... More
