Macho salad and corn bread!

The macho salad is fantastic! Delicious! And the corn bread was a perfect accompaniment - they're known for it and I can see why! Nice atmosphere for lunch or dinner - quiet, dark - a respite from the heat and foot traffic of Michigan Avenue. Excellent service. Terrific all around.

Make no mistake, this is a chain restaurant with music and a convenient location. Do not expect exquisite cusine or firt class experience. This is a high end middle class redtuarant and nothing moee. No fine dining here. Having said that, the music does make difference, but not enough to choose this palace over another. If you are looking for... More

The best thing about Bandera is that it is two blocks from our Condo. The worst part is you can expect to wait a while if you do not have a reservation. The restaurant has live jazz at least 4 days a week and the bar is almost always hopping. You will need to "hover" and monitor patrons to snag... More

Bandera is perfectly located on Michigan Avenue right across from Nordstrom. The food is delicious and the staff is knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Everything arrives in a timely manor and special request are not forgotten. I had the spinach artichoke dip and the cheese burger. Both were delish! There is a Paino playing beautiful music in the center of the... More

Bandera Restaurant is located in a very good place which has a view over Michigan Ave also the food was delicious but when I arrived there was a drunk guy he was fighting with the stuff and before leaving he broke bottle under the bar which was so close to my leg.

A friend recommended Bandera - after a few intense shopping hours at Nordstrom's, Bandera was right across the street. The drinks were strong, service impeccable. Their signature cornbread hit the spot and the French dip rocked.

. Arrived at 5:15, with reservations, and were seated right away at a table overlooking Michigan Avenue. A jazz trio was playing right by our table and they were excellent. We thought the menu was full of wonderful choices. We ordered an appetizer of two dips (guacamole and a spicy cheese dip) which came with warm tortilla chips. They were... More

We've been here a few times. The food has always been very good & the servers very competent. Try to go, when the live music is going on. There have some excellent musicians here & the decor is pleasing. There can be long waiting lines, so don't come expecting to be fed right away...once you have been seated, order the... More

Just looking for somewhere to eat and came across Bandera. Live Jazz being played was brilliant. Filet steak out of this world and the mashed potatoes delicious. Dessert well worth it. Would I go back...Oh yes:)

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
