Great atmosphere. Went there pretty late when they were closing so I harrassed my waiter all out of fun so he couldn't go home. Kept me laughing, great place to go everytime I go to Chicago. Best cheese fries and shakes.

Went back here last winter after a long hiatus and it just keeps getting worse. The tired shtick is not the issue, it's the completely bland and uninspired food. I won't be going back for another decade, if ever.
We always take family and friends from out of town to Ed's, its great fun to watch their faces. The wait staff never disappoint. The food is only fair, its the dancing and quick remarks of the wait staff that makes this a spot in Chicago not to be missed. Make sure to get a mini sundae!!! best food is...

We enjoyed having dinner at this diner with the cranky waitresses. My daughter found it quite hilarious. We were there on a quiet evening so it wasn't as wild as I imagine it can be, but we were still thoroughly entertained. The food was very good too - yummy burgers!
My thirteen year old daughter loves this place and I have to confess, its fun to visit. Definitely not the highest food quality, but for a burger, shake, and a smile it is a good time. Our waiter was hilarious.
A fun event for the kids. Great food and huge portion sizes. Good value with a fun atmosphere. Our waiter, Rusty, was "very rude" and we all had a lot of fun.
The food is pretty so-so, which is really what we expected. My soup was luke warm and not very good even after they warmed it up in the microwave. My salad was definitely out of a bag and tasteless. The chili tasted like the kind you get on a hotdog at a coney island (not very good by itself) and...

If you want to pay money to be verbally harrassed by the waitstaff and eat mediocre food, then by all means, come here. Not a fan of wisecracking waiters and waitresses. We work too hard for our money.
Generous portions, unique character, and it's certainly helpful to go in knowing the waitstaff have "attitudinal character". We brought two teenage boys who were amused and very satisfied with their meals, as were we (the adults).
This restaurant is really fun to visit. Beware! The servers are not your typical nice mannered servers. They aren't supposed to be, that's the fun of it. Be prepared for some sassy servers when you order your meal. There was 4 of us 2 adults 2 kids.. We had wieners and milkshakes. Our server tagged us as being from Indiana,...
