Its Italian!!

Excellent Italian food and service and would definitely return on my next Chicago visit. Reservations are a must since they are packed for dinner unless you wish to dine at 9:30 PM or later.

Or rather mediocre Italian food. Tried their minestrone (lukewarm and ok), and the caprese spaghetti. Tomato sauce was nothing special. Mozarella was just ok. I just wanted to have lunch at an Italian restaurant. I must say, it was so meh. I know the dishes I ordered were nothing special, but I didn't feel like the food was great, it... More

This is the best Italian restaurant I've have been to past the New England coast. Prices very reasonable, and you receive lots of food. They actually play real Italian music. Staff excellent. A must if you get to Chicago.

Great traditional Italian fare; you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I do however make a strong appetizer recommendation...Mama's Meatball's and Calamari. You owe it to yourself to try these and if you are ordering for the table; they will be so impressed with your ordering skills.

Ok, it's a bit crowded, it's bit noisy, and the service can be less than perfect, but you must go for great Italian food. baked clams, linguine in clam sauce, and veal are my favorites. The staff is very friendly and they do a good job despite the crowded tables. This is what Northern Italian cuisine is all about, and... More

Well, again, very good is definitely too kind but let's say "average" wouldn't be fair. I tried as meat cuts, soppressata and Parma ham which turned out to be delicious. I chose a Montepulciano 1/2 which also turned out to be a very good, traditional, Abruzzo wine. Everything was set to be a perfect italian meal downtown Chicago but suddenly... More

Volare, a bit off of Michigan Avenue, it is fantastic. Been there more times than I can count, primarily lunch but in the summer outside for dinner is the choice you want to make. Veal is always good, house Chianti is a delight. Try it. Servers are great and will help you make that decision. Reservations suggested, but sitting at... More

The service really set this restaurant apart. The food was good with a wide variety, but the incredibly friendly service is what will bring me back. We were welcomed like we were part of the owner's family & he stopped by a few times to check in on us. The wait staff was very attentive and had plenty of good... More

There's a lot to say about the food at Volare that's good, but the really special thing on my visit was the service. Our waiter hovered near during the whole meal as he also waited on nearby tables. We never wanted for anything, water glasses always full, table cleared immediately, check available as we finished...perfect service all around. And yet,... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
