Bistro Campagne is a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant in the tradition of a true French bistro. From the beginning, Bistro Campagne has strived to capture and express that ephemeral quality found in favorite small neighborhood bistros in Paris and rural France: the sense of welcome, ease, fun conversation & and of course excellent food. The setting is a charming blend of prairie-inspired decor and lively Gallic spirit. It is the food, however, that is at the heart of a great bistro, and Chef Michael Altenberg offers a seasonally changing menu of classic bistro fare that is based on the best ingredients he can find. His commitment to organic agriculture leads him to seek products from local organic farmers throughout our Midwestern growing season, and even from organic farms on the west coast throughout the winter. Bistro Campagne is committed to the use of organic food products and strongly supports the sustainable, low impact agriculture movement.

While visiting Chicago from New York City, my boyfriend who lives in Lakeview treated me to a fabulous meal at this gem of a restaurant! Our server Andrew had perfect timing and made the entire meal absolutely seamless. Although there are many mid-range, upscale dining restaurants to choose from in Chicago, this is our date night go to hands down.... More

Four of us went to Bistro Campagne for their Endless Mussels on Tuesday night, a weekly thing. I was the only person that did not get the mussels, but the rest of my group was very pleased with the number of mussels per bowl, the flavor of the broth, and the sides of French fries, fried onions, and crispy bread... Bistro Campagne is a charming restaurant. Four of us recently had brunch there and really enjoyed the food. The service, however, was terrible. This was not the fault of the staff, who were working very hard. The restaurant was packed, but there were only two people waiting on tables. It took forever to get coffee. Once we ordered, we waited... More

We stopped in before attending a Patti Smith concert next door. We weren't able to get dinner reservations earlier in the day, so we chanced it. We were lucky to get a very intimate table for two after we walked in. By the time we finished our salads, this little restaurant was packed. I can understand why it might be... More

A lovely bistro. Eat outside in good weather - you'd never know there was a busy street in front. The food is yummy!

This is my favorite french food in Chicago- and one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago! Everytime we've been to this restaurant the food has been outstanding! The steak frites are amazing and the fries are awesome with a mayo aioli and my husband loved the pork entree! The wine is always delicious (you can't go wrong with french wine) and... More

Friends took us to this pleasant restaurant which had very nice food and a wonderful waiter named Patrick. The food was quite good but a little inconsistent. The onion soup was divine and the salads quite good. For dinner, my husband ordered salmon but traded for my trout! He felt that the salmon had an unusual taste, which it did, but... More

Looking for a restaurant near The Old Town School of Folk Music, I followed a few Tripadvisor reviews to Bistro Campagne. Not only was the food exceptional, but kudos to a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Outstanding steak and trout. Wonderful cocktails. A quaint and comfortable atmosphere. I will be returning just for the dining experience!

I've been here a few times and every time the food and service have been exceptional. I even went once sick and had a great time. The steak frites is amazing. In the future I will get more jus, yet amazing. It's a quaint restaurant with great service and great food. Bistro Campagne will take my money forever.
