I Recently had occasion to dine at the CHICAGO BRAUHAUS. It was a wonderful experience. The food was very high quality, well prepared and presented. They had very enjoyable entertainment, which I was told they have six nights a week. They are closed on Tuesdays. If you would like a truly enjoyable experience with great German food and entertainment. I would... More

I would entitle this review Chicago Barf House but it seemed too strong and tasteless (excuse the pun) to lead with. Physically, however, that is what it turned out to be. We dined at approximately 6pm and I was still sleepless and physically ill at 4:30am. My wife and I were unimaginably sick to our stomach. All I could taste... More

I visited the Chicago Brauhaus with the De La Salle Band (from New Orleans). We had 25 high school kids and about 10 chaperones on the trip. The owner of the restaurant was in one word AWESOME!!! When we arrived everything was set up and waiting for us. The service was great, every order was correct, glasses were refilled without... More

My wife and I had dinner here last evening after seeing this place on the Food Network. We didn't know what to expect, but knew it would be interesting. We walked in and immediately heard the off-key musings of two 70ish musicians. One on guitar and one on the accordion. You know it's not a German restaurant until you hear... More

Located at Lincoln Square, in Rosemount, (Chicago), this is one of the best German beer gardens I have been to. seats nearly 800 (my guess) and makes several excellent brews, including a great dark beer (donkel?) and several nice seasonal brews. Food is good German country dining. Lots of fun and entertainment with a live band. Locals show up on... More

Lincoln Square is full of German heritage, and this restaurant is the epitome of that. It's a family owned restaurant that's been around for several decades and has delicious German dishes, boots of beer, a polka band with a dance floor, etc. I love bringing visitors here because it's really good, pretty inexpensive food, a great atmosphere, and makes me... Went with family, one of whom was born and lived in Germany for 20 years. She said the food was very reflective of German home cooking. I really loved the crispy skinned duck - it was not served with a sauce but the skin was perfectly crisp and the meat was moist and juicy. I'm not a huge spatzle fan,... More

Real German restaurants (I lived in Germany 3 years) are oriented towards seating groups, as well as families. The Brauhaus falls in line with this. The dishes served reflect popular dishes with an emphasis on southern Germany (Bavaria). Live Octoberfest style music (at least on Saturday evening) is provided for your entertainment.

I am of German descent and have grown up with German food. As far as German food goes this is top notch. But as I said above in the end it's just German food. It is hard to compare German food with many other cuisines thus it would be hard for me to go higher than a 3 rating. Four... More
