Excellent sauerbraten!

Nice place, good German atmosphere. We went at 4pm, so pretty empty, but also meant no music which was a bummer. My daughter said sauerbraten was the best she has ever had and the red cabbage was excellent. Just don't order root beer, it is $4 a bottle! Thursday nights in summer there are concerts... read more

The food was outstanding and very authentic. The beers and wine went well with all of the food. The staff was so friendly and inviting. The entertainment made the entire meal a true dinner and a show. The dance floor was great for everyone that wanted to cut a rug. Any of the Pork dishes were great.

We had the pork shank, red cabbage and spaetzel. Looking at the plate I thought I was back in Munich. You will not go away hungry with this dish. I should have stopped... More

We went here with relatives looking for authentic German food & atmosphere on their Chicago visit. Although having lived here in Chicago, we never know this slice of Bavarian cuisine and music/atmosphere existed in our city. It is a landmark with good, authentic food and was packed on a Friday night with locals, families, couples and young-elderly diners. The beer... More

We were hear during the local street festival, so area was crawling with people. The party atmosphere spread into the restaurant, as two men dressed in German outfits and played music the whole time. It was lovely, though I guess that doesn't happen every day. The menu is very German, and they have a variety of German beers. I liked... More

I found out through the staff at Chicago's Hard Rock Hotel, You don't have to go to Bavaria to get a feel of what Oktoberfest is like. Harry Kempf has managed to make that happen in the Lincoln Square area of Chicago. I was surprised to find out the city named both a street and park after him. My friend... More

We arrived almost too late to catch the kitchen still open, but luck was on our side. We kicked off the evening with great draft beer on tap - try the Stiegl and Spaten. With our reasonable command of German, we ordered the soup of the day and Leberknödel Suppe (liver dumpling in broth) - both wonderful and homely (it... More

Decided on this place as it was close to the running store and we didn't have time to venture to some other places I had wanted to try. Friday afternoon about 2:00 and just a 15 folks inside sitting at the bar and a few tables. The inside is so old world, senior citizen-like (in a good way) I just... More

Had dinner here early on a Thursday evening with my daughter. The beer is enormous! A small draft was plenty. The band was already playing and a mix of families and older folks were enjoying themselves. Our waitress was attentive, kind and hilarious! We ordered from the specials menu. I had venison goulash that was delicious. I would definitely go... More
