Fantastic food. Lamp gyro is delicious. Eggplant appetizer the best ever. Great drinks. Service very attentive and prompt. Only issue was that they ran out if beet salad.
Years ago on Skyros an island guy who'd been living in Paris told me how frustrating it was to come home and try to create something different with the basic cuisine. I'm a Greek food fan. Taksim is the first place that I've been that makes the guy's fantasy real. Amazing food, among the best we've had anywhere, under any... More
We started with several little plates, including eggplant with pita, cauliflower, octopus, prawns, cheese spread with pita--each one superb. I ordered Souvlaki; my friends ordered lamb shank and more little plates. Even the pita was extraordinary. Our waiter recommended drinks and wine per our preferences. He was right on each time.
The food at Taxim is generally good. It's not a typical Greek restaurant with flaming saganiki and murals of the islands on the walls. It's small and the ambiance is pleasant, not too loud, not too quiet. The green lentil dish was excellent. And the house-made pita accompanying some dishes was also top-notch. Other dishes were a bit lacking (the... More
Taxim is definitely a "5" in terms of décor and atmosphere. Food is a respectable "4" and service a slightly regrettable "3." Parking is an issue, so if you're an out-of-town traveler, take a 5-minute cab ride from the Miracle Mile area (there are plenty of cabs to take you back), and if you're a local, plan to walk a... Our friends, who frequent Taxim, took us there for dinner. Terrific idea! We ordered a mix of meals and savory small plates. Everything was delicious, and the wait staff was attentive. Dishes ranged from kebop to rack of lamb, octopus to fresh beets. We now join our friends in recommending Taxim!
Four friends met at Taxim for dinner on the Friday night after 4th of July. We were seated immediately in the center of the room where the tables are placed very close to your neighbors. We were lucky to have nice neighbors. The food was excellent. The four of us shared 5 small plates and 2 main entrees, and we... More
Super torn about my rating, but gonna go right in the middle. However, I do believe I will be back and truly hope to be able to increase the amount of stars for this place!!! We ventured to Taxim this past weekend after seeing it on a recent episode of Check Please. The videographer (or whatever they may be called)... More
The dining experience was okay. The food tasted alright. I ate there after a day of eating only bread at home, and I got food poisoning. I contacted the restaurant about this and they did not seem to care much even though it was obvious that I was sick from their food.
We had a reservation on a Saturday night and we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, no one came to our table for almost 15 to 20 minutes, and we had to try and wave someone down about 5 times. I will have to give all credit to the hostess, she was ultimately the one who noticed no one ever came to... More
