Incredible pastries!

Found this place using YELP and it was a wonderful little gem 2 blocks from our hotel. Picked up croissants and brought them back to our hotel!

Located in a large business complex, this little bakery has a door that looks like a little wooden door in a european village. Inside, small tables for two, a cozy dining area you get to by walking through the kitchen where they are baking large (like, really LARGE) loaves of bread. The smell is heavenly. Coffee and rolls are cheap,... More

The best croissants in Chicago. This Belgian enclave is known by locals for its bread and pastries which are made on the premises. Soups salads and sandwiches are also available and are fantastic. This is a grab-and-go place hidden behind an orange door with a weird door handle, but, seating is available inside and outside. Try a cherry croissant and... More

Croissants were delicious. I also ordered a pastrami and rye. Very good, but could have used more pastrami (IMO). Bread was very tasty.

We went searching for this place based on some reviews we'd read, and boy am I glad we did. It's a cozy little shop with just three or four tables (there's a back room with a few more), and the aroma is heavenly. Staff were very friendly (especially the youngest one--dressed in a Santa suit for the holidays), and helped... More

Found this place when I was staying near by in the city, hidden gem in the city and a great place to grab a quick croissant for breakfast if you are shopping, working or staying near by. Small space but cosy. Riddiculous door that does not shut properly but the croissants are amazing and worth it. My favorite is the... More

I came to Hendrickx wanting a really amazing croissant. Unfortunately there were no more croissants left when I went there, but I took this to mean that I had missed something truly fantastic. Instead I got a apple turnover and was not disappointed. If you visit Hendrickx's website you can read about the entire story of the bakery. It's a... More

Fresh, homemade bread really makes these great sandwiches! The very best freshest chicken curry sandwich, tuna sandwich or egg salad. The food is clean and simple. An ideal location for soups and salads, as well. The homemade croissants are fabulous. It is a small intimate breakfast and lunch spot with charm and everything prepared fresh each morning!

A friend told us about Hendrickx, so we went there soon after we arrived in Chicago for a long weekend and ended up going back every day. The people who run the place are wonderfully friendly and love describing the ways that they prepare everything from scratch; you can peer into the back and see the bakers at work. As... More
