Good food, great service

We walked into Davanti not knowing it and left happy. The waiter explained that their style is sharing plates but we were looking for a less leisurely meal, so three of us had linguini with crab and sea urchin, which was seasoned to our taste with just the right amount of sauce. Ok so Davante has multiple locations. Taylor street is by far the best. We had the cacio de Pepe, the rigatoni, the ricotta dumplings, focaccia, and the grilled octopus. Everything was really good. Everything. Service was also really prompt and friendly. I liked it so much that I decided to go to Hubbard location. That was a big mistake. Stick... More

Great Italian corner restaurant and place for cheese & wine. After having passed this by two years ago, this time I decided to stop in between mealtimes. Pleasant setting and staff. Had a simple cacio e Pepe pasta, a good sanginovese wine. Good espresso. Not cheap, but not exorbitant either. Good regular and university crowd. Most pasta dishes $14-20, pizzas... More

From the moment we entered, I knew that I had found a great restaurant. The ambiance was remarkable, giving me the feeling that this place is special, and it is. The wait staff recommended sharing, and we did, combining small plates, appetizers and entrees into a 4 course meal. Sublime! The wine-by-the-glass list offers some nice selections, Italian and otherwise.... More

At first, this made us get a little down on Davanti, because, you know, who likes chains? But as we thought about it more, we realized that if you went to Davanti on Taylor Street not knowing anything about it, you’d walk away thinking it’s a cute little restaurant that perfectly blends into the Little Italy/University Village scene. So if... More

Very nice looking restaurant and some of the food we ordered was great - the vegetarian gnocchi had fabulous flavour and the cow cheese focaccia will have you licking the platter - it was just incredible. Pizza was awful, the ragu gnocchi was average. The waiter was condescending and forgot one order. They gave us free dessert to compensate but... More

We had originally planned to go elsewhere but on a whim stopped in Davanti Enoteca. Had no idea what to expect. Found a very casual restaurant with wonderful medium size portions of unique Italian-inspired food--had chickpea/tuna bruschetta, pumpkin ravioli, and pork gnocchi--all fabulous, with interestingly delicious blends of flavors. Splurged and ordered both the carrot cake AND the blonde brownie... More

Have wanted to eat here since reading all the rave reviews over the past several years. Well we decided to do a pre theatre dinner this past Saturday, knowing full well that Saturday night is the busiest night in Chicago. It is also the noisiest night of the week. Everything we had was delicious. We started with the pate and... More

We had a party of six well cared for the whole evening with a terrific assortment of appetizers, get the Foccacia and Polenta for two winners. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, portions are not huge, our group thought the portions were just right. Your server can advise you if you want some of the larger portioned entrees. Desserts were equally good,... More

On our last day in Chicago we were wet from rain, cold and tired. Having a bit of time to kill before catching the train home and not yet ready for dinner, we dipped in here to warm up with a cocktail or two. The bartender acknowledged us right away but took an extended amount of time to return to... More
