Description: A mix of modern and traditional Italian cuisine, our cozy ristorante has long been a local favorite. Sisters Anna and Maria, originally from the Basilicata region of southern Italy, first opened the doors of Anna Maria Pasteria in 1989. Beginning at age seven, Anna fell in love with cooking, creating her first plate of Pasta e Fagioli, a simple peasant dish which is now an Italian specialty. Enamored with cuisine and hospitality, Maria followed the family tradition and put her heart into making the best and most heavenly Tiramisu. After nearly two decades, Anna and Maria continue to dedicate themselves to the finest home-made Italian cuisine and service. Each entree is prepared to order with only the finest and freshest ingredients.

I am truly shocked at the number of positive reviews for this restaurant. The food lacks in flavor and the portions are ridiculously small. The ravioli was mostly pasta (very little filling), pizza was doughy and our caesar salad was swimming in water… the croutons were soaked! Extremely overpriced… will not return!

I dine here twice to four times a year and have since 1990. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the owner during last week's visit commented that I was one of her first customers 25 years ago. I was delighted she remembered and I even ended up with the same waiter I had so many years ago. I think this speaks volumes... More

Horrible snowy Sunday in Chicago. It was nice and warm inside Anna Maria's. Waiter was nice, friendly . Very attentive. Food was excellent. Price is very reasonable and big servings. We even tried the dessert. Try the cream puff filled with ice cream and covered in chocolate. Awesome! Really nice thing was we could hear across the table. Good conversation.

I've only been there once, but I've had fettucine al funghi in a lot of places, including Italy, and this was the best I remember, ever. Very pleasant place, with a spacious dining room, not crowded with tables. Simple decor, but friendly and attentive service. Just had a glass of wine, didn't really look at the wine list, but the... In the decades we've been going to Anna Maria's and we've never had anything but delicious food and great service. We've eaten there with large groups and as a couple, on Christmas Eve and just because. It's very nice but not too fancy - comfortable and friendly. We've introduced it to scores of people, and everyone goes back for more.... More

Been here many times over the years and I think it is now as good as it has ever been. Fine service from nice people. But be advised, they do not have an extensive wine list or god forbid even worse, they don't have a sommelier (can you imagine?). To refer to one reviewer here, how could you possibly eat... More

There's little to dislike about this place. Parking is insane, so take transit if possible. The food is excellent. Familiar favorites and delicious new temptations.

During my last trip to Chicago I was able to discover an excellent italian restaurant. The owner Anna and Maria came from Basilicata, a Region South of Italy in 1966 and soon after, they started their business. The meal was the most delicious one I had in the "States". after our meal we were delighted with the best tiramisù and... More

A romantic neighborhood place, one said? On a corner shared with a cemetery, drugstore, and strip mall. Another said reasonable prices? Not for a neighborhood joint with what you get and don't get. A store front with 8-9 tables and a mini bar with unknown wines and no trained bartender. A large menu of many selections, which you quickly see... More
