Description: From the creators of The Gage comes Henri — energetically American, French influenced.   Heralded as an "instant classic", Henri offers fine dining without pretention. Under the direction of Executive Chef Chris Gawronski, Henri’s menu is influenced by the refining principles of classical cuisine. Innovative dishes like kampachi crudo join traditional favorites such as foie gras, steak tartare, Dover sole and ribeye au poivre. The tasting menu highlights the bounty of the season, accompanied by perfectly paired wines by sommelier Jason Wagner. The carefully curated wine list is almost exclusively biodynamic, while cocktails are both creative and classic. Reminiscent of a European salon, Henri provides an elegant respite from bustling Michigan Avenue.

Henri is no longer open. The food was amazing and had a great patio for outdoor dining. Acanto has opened where Henri's used to be and it is also very nice.

From the rose champagne to the amazing layered desserts, Henri caters to every possible need. The dining area is small and intimate. The food delicious and expertly prepared. My date knocked me off my feet here and the chef even came out to shake my hand! It was truly the greatest, most romantic dinner right on Michigan Ave.

We enjoyed a very tasty, although expensive meal at this classic clubby restaurant on June 21st. Apart from the challenge of reading the menu in darkness ( which improved once the street lights went on), the service, ambience and food made for a pleasant evening. Apparently, this was Henri's last weekend. It was to close & apparently will be reborn... More

A girlfriend and I went to Chicago to celebrate my birthday. We chose Henri for our "special" dinner and was very pleased. The central location is excellent. The dining room is an intimate size, but the tables aren't overly close together. The decor is lovely, with soft colors of sage green, beige and chocolate. We were offered a choice of... More

French food done well is a rare treat. Treat yourself to Henri's. I had a restaurant experience here that I never had anywhere else. I asked the waiter for recommendations between the rabbit and salmon dishes. I told him I wasn't a huge salmon fan but he raved about it, so I ordered it. Well, it came out and was... More

We had dinner at Henri's after the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performance. The restaurant is walking distance from the CSO which was very convenient for a late dinner reservation. The restaurant decor was beautiful, classy and elegant, the staff were very professional and attentive, the menu was fabulous with a great wine list. Even thought it was late, we were not... More

I went to Henri for restaurant week with two girlfriends on a Thursday night. It was good night great. The service was high-end but impersonal. I thought the wine list was nice, but we said we wanted a dry red and asked for a suggestion and they told us what really would like was blah blah blah...It hit the table... More

Ate here in May as treat. The space is amazingly inviting and pleasant. Just like in the photos. The food was not crazy, but creative, and the wine list was equally varied. When we has questions, the sommelier was very helpful and not condescending. We had a lovely Austrian varietal that was not hugely expensive but one of the best... More

Great Host, food and service, who new? Here for the NRA show and booked Henri for a dinner for my wife and I. The absolute best restaurant experience for us in Chicago in twenty years. PS We took 6 people to Gage (same owners) , next door on 5/17/14, and were blown away by the expert service again!

We've had both lunch and dinner at Henri's, and have thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. The food is fresh, well prepared, and delicious - and the decor is absolutely stunning. Also enjoyable is to sit outside in warm weather, because even though the cafe is on Michigan Ave., the artful landscaping provides privacy. Service is impeccable also. Highly recommended!!
