Ruxbin is special for us. There we celebrated our wedding and my husband's graduation. While visiting Chicago we had dinner there. Now they take reservations which is very convenient. We ordered 2 appetizers, cauliflower and burdock and roasted squash. Both were good. Although the squash was more creative and rich. We also had the special rabbit leg. And red grouper.... More

I went to Ruxbin last weekend for my birthday, and it was fabulous. Now, the exterior in the winter has a lot to be desired and the seating is a little cramped, but the amazing food makes up for it. Also, the fact that the place is BYOB is a huge plus. My date and I started with the beet... More

I came to Chicago for work. Came here from the hotel. Food was very delicious. I had the garlic fries and roasted squash as appetizers. For the main course, I had the hanger steak. Food was great. Staff was excellent. No complaints from me.

We do not concur with the seeming universal praise for Ruxbin. We found the food was tasty, but the presentation was not appealing. They subscribe to supposedly radical style of plates as recipients for unorganized piles or Jackson Pollock-like spatters. It would be akin to a florist running one's bouquet through a paper shredder - nice colour but an undifferentiated... More

Amazing, inventive food and decor. Service with a soupçon of attitude. We had many great meals in Chicago, but this was the most exciting.

Haute cuisine meets local neighborhood restaurant, that's the feeling at Ruxbin. Yes the space is small but it is visually interesting and somehow warm and welcoming. It is BYOB so if you have a great bottle of wine and want a kitchen that will do it justice, don't hesitate to bring it. If, like us, you arrive without wine don't... More

I was visiting my son in Chicago and he suggested we try Ruxbin, which was in his new neighborhood. The menu looked intriguing and it was BYOB, which I liked. Loved the service, loved the atmosphere and the food was AMAZING! I'm a huge fan of small plates as it gives me a chance to try lots of different things.... More

We made reservations at Ruxbin a few weeks ahead of time - had to provide credit card info to hold the reservation) - the only time we could get was 6pm - got there right on time and the place was full to the gills (of course). The tables are pretty close together so you have a hard time not... More

I made reservations about a month in advance for this place for 6:30pm on a Friday, which is a bit early but allowed us to explore the area after dinner. We were seated right at 6:30pm at our table in a full restaurant. It is a very cozy feel with dim lighting and a small dining area. We started out... More

Based on a review in the NY Times, 4 of us had dinner here. There is no liquor available, so it's BYOB for a $5 fee. We had two appetizers (especially loved the octopus) and 4 entrees. If you are a big eater, this is not the place for you, as the servings are comparatively small. Unique combinations of ingredients... More
