Italian home cooking

Italian home cooking at its best. Nice pastas served family style, excellent appetizers, and good wine list. We were less impressed by the pizzas -- fine toppings but poor dough and no crust. Pleasant atmosphere, not too loud, good service. Overall a good choice.

We had a reservation at Francesca's and were seated quickly. We came a bit early when the restaurant was about half full, but from the beginning to the end, the waiter was a bit slow. Other service (water refilling, etc) was excellent, but we languished in need of attention from our waiter several times. Our desert menu was presented and... More

Had just arrived in Chicago after a long day's travel. Staff, food and surroundings were excellent. The seafood linguini and the spinach ravioli were some of the nicest pasta that my wife and I have had anywhere. We would definitely go back.

A short walk from The Drake, The Ritz, and Northern Magnificent Mile, is a most worthy dining experience. A diverse menu, coupled with fine service, make this fine location special, without being expensive. Dinner for three, on a relaxed Sunday Holiday evening cost just over $100, and was most complete with appetizers, salad, entree and dessert. They were happy to... More

My mother, daughter and I ate at Francesca's while in Chicago last week, and I wouldn't have changed a thing. We all raved about our meals - my tilapia with mushrooms was superb. Dessert was a breathtaking apple and rhubarb pastry. This was a fabulous meal, and a perfect way to spend our last night in Chicago!

We were in Chicago to help our son move into his apartment; To celebrate this new start and an upcoming Mother's Day, we took a short walk hoping to "find" a memory making lunch for four. We found Francesca's just east of the John Hancock Bldg. Jorge was our server and he made the mealtime just perfect for us. Far... More

We visited Francesca's for a special spring dinner and wine pairing in the downstairs wine tasting room. The room is designed to look like a wine cave, very intimate and cozy. The dinner included 4 courses and wine pairings for $65 per person; not cheap, but an excellent value given the quality of the event. Knowledgeable staff introduced each course... More

We went here after many recommendations. We all ordered various pasta dishes. They were just that, bowls of pasta. Nothing special. The sevice was just ok. We asked for lemons three times and they never came. We were a party of 6 and they acted as if we were putting them out. When they asked if we wanted drinks and... More

We arrived and it took over 10 minutes to get a drink order. Service for dinner was just as slow. The food itself was so-so. The pasta with broccoli showed very little broccoli. The lobster pasta was tasty. The seafood pasta was okay.

In February a group of ten went to Francesca's on a Sunday night for dinner. The atmosphere is fine and comfortable. The service, food and wine was very good and at a reasonable price point. The "Skate" was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by a few at our table that had never had the opportunity to have it. The service was... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
