Great food, not so great service!

Very busy night. Our server rattled off the specials she had memorized, but felt no connection to. Food was excellent as always- the salmon with avocado salsa was divine and the pasta with sausage (supposed to be spicy, but not so much) was good too. Hot bread. Dinner salad, not worth $7. We love this place. We always visit this restaurant when we visit Chicago. The chicken is amazing, and the pasta is fresh and always delicious. A really great, underrated place.

Started off with a salad of asparagus, blue cheese and tomatoes. Loved it. Bread was nice and crunchy. Grouper with wild mushrooms was outstanding as was the side of meatballs. Desert - a simple dish of Spumoni and chocolate sorbet. Perfect dinner.

I love this restaurant. My family and I went here twice on the same trip. They have excellent service. The waiters were very sweet and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic! Best Italian food I've ever had! I'd recommend the chicken and polenta. It made are trip one to remember.

My friends and I wanted to eat downtown and spur-of-the-moment selected Francesca's on Chestnut. I am so glad we did! While food in any big city is expensive, we were pleased that we were not sticker-shocked by the prices. The three of us split two entrees, an appetizer, and a bottle of wine. With bread as a starter, we were... More

I went to Francesca's on Chestnut today for a late lunch. I sat at the bar because I was by myself. The bartender greeted me promptly and gave me a menu to look over. As I perused the menu he went to get me bread, parmesan cheese, and olive oil. When he returned I gave him my drink and lunch... More

Francesca's on Chestnut is a local treasure. The food is always consistently good. While there are "staples" on the menu , i.e. meals that are so popular they are always on the menu (like the 1/2 chicken), the menu changes up every couple of weeks so you can enjoy new items that embrace local fresh vegetables. As for the bar,... More

We came here on a Monday night. Service was subpar and the food was very good, not great but very good. The pizza crust was phenomenal and some of the other dishes were good as well and well prepared. I will give it a B-.

I went to thecFrancescas on Bryn Maur but they are all the same. Good service but sone good issues. I tried to order meatballs but they only have them on Wednesdays. That is weird. I go to Italian restaurants to eat meatballs. I ordered a pizza and asked if I could have ricotta cheese instead of mozzarella. They had no... More

We enjoyed an early dinner and absolutely loved our Pollo Sassi and Chianti. The chicken dish was served with artichokes and mushrooms with a tasty delicate herb mushroom brandy sauce. We arrived at 3:30 - in order to have a lighter meal off of the lunch menu. The prices for lunch are also extremely reasonable for the downtown Chicago area.

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
