The Publican Wowed Us

I've waited for years to dine at the Publican and when I got the opportunity I worried that I'd missed its prime. No worries. Our party of 4 was wowed by the atmosphere as well as the food. Some bites were startlingly good (farm chicken), and others were simply delicious (country ham). Everything... read more

this is a well regarded restaurant with excellent food--so why three stars? Because, as good as the food was, I wouldn't go back. the layout is uncomfortable, the beer list unremarkable, and the wait staff pulled out our plates before we could finish our last bite. That said, the mackerel dish and the aged steak dish (for $19--good value) were... More

Breakfasted with my son, niece and nephews and very impressed with the restaurant's cuisine. We tried the porchetta benedict, pork belly scrapple, publican bacon and waffles. All very good. The publican bacon is the thickest I've ever had eaten.

My wife and I dined at Publican last week and while she had been for lunch, this was my first visit. My expectations were high going in as this is a crown jewel among the Paul Kahan and One Off Hospitality Group's restaurants. Publican did not disappoint. The bread to start was amazing and worth the money. I would recommend... More

We were so excited to try the Publican...and were incredibly disappointed. First, the menu is incredibly limited and if there are any picky eaters in your party they will have difficulty finding anything to eat. Second, the seating is communal and you may find yourself sitting in the middle of groups of strangers. Third, the food itself is mediocre. We... More

My family and I loved The Publican. The service was so good--really friendly hostesses, and our waiter really knew his stuff and was so nice. The food was outrageously delicious. It can get pretty loud inside & most of the tables are communal, so that's something to keep in mind before you go. Overall this place was a hit!

I would highly recommend visiting The Publican for pleasure or business. I took my boss and a colleague here for dinner one evening. While it might seem a little strange to pick a place that recommends eating "family style", we enjoyed discussing our options and making decisions as a group. Start with the spicy pork rinds, beets and apple salad,... More

What a great place for lunch. Quaint deli/eatery. Very cozy. We had the clam chowder, apple salad and the "E" sandwich. Definitely a game changer. All totally impactful and memorable. Clam chowder was light but creamy, and the hot sauce they put on the top was bang on--added just enough of a kick and tang. Delish. The apple salad was... More

The food was great but our server was probably the worst server I have ever experienced. It really is too bad, too. The food was outstanding but our server disappeared. We only had two rounds of drinks but would have liked more. It was just such hard work! We arrived there on Friday, December 11th after first enjoying a round... More

Came for Sunday brunch and were sat at the corner of a communal table-worked okay for us, but not a big fan of community table seating. We had the liver pate, porchetta, waffle with honey butter and jam (delicious!) and the bacon. The coffee was great-served in a large coffee mug with generous refills. The food was pretty good, although... More
