We definitely wanted to try an authentic Chicago dog on our first visit to the city. Needless to say we were not disappointed. Took me a minute to catch on to the fast pace of ordering and making sure I was in the correct line. Actually making sure I ordered correctly and in a timely manner I forgot to order... More

The place is adequately staffed by well trained hard workers. Best hot dog and beef around. Never a complaint. My first stop when in Chicago.

We had a variety of items from the menu as I was with a group of 30 teenagers and adults. The variety of hot dogs were by far the crowd fav but we had mixed opinions on the chipped beef and other sandwiches. Desserts like shakes and Tiramisu were great also. Crazy busy place on a Sunday night, but faster... More

The food is delicious. The atmosphere and ordering process sure can be intimidating, but that's part of the fun and there are employees there helping you in line if it's crowded. It wasn't super cheap, but I wouldn't call it expensive. I had the Italian Beef with hot peppers and fries and all of it was delicious.

LOVE this place! My husband and I ate here a couple of years ago and couldn't wait to go back! This time, we took our two teenagers. They loved the atmosphere AND the food! Of course, they now want us to try to make hotdogs at home like they do here! The Portillo dogs look "weird" at first! I mean,... More

We were told that this and other venue were the best places to get a real Chicago Hot Dog. In my opinion, Portillo's beats the other venue's butt. Fresh ingredients, made to order, good service, colorful place, very affordable.

Portillo’s was highly suggested from the travel reviews and since I was looking to try the famous Chicago-style hot-dogs, I decided it was worth a visit. I was not disappointed. The choice of hot-dogs was vast and the taste of their product was great. The thing I liked the most was the decor and the setting of the restaurant, although... More

Based on a few recommendation some locals while we were riding the L-trian back from Wrigley Field. We wanted to get a hot dog with the chicago experience and this is where we were told to go. What a Hot Dog experience. Our kids loved it. They serve much more the hot dogs, but guess what we ate. Cost was... More

Okay I was skeptic at first but, this place is a throwback comfort food that you can write to mom about. However, I'm not a fan of the Italian beef but, bring on those Polish / Italian dogs! A bit overpriced though. >:-S

So this is the predominant place in Chicago to get hot dogs? And Chicago is well-known for its style of hot dog? We got Portillo's equivalent of a Chicago-style dog, and I've had so much better from the rotating wheel at a gas station. The atmosphere is pure touristy, the variety of food choices is large, but the food is... More
