This place is a little gem! We ordered our food ahead of time and I was glad, there was a line of students outside waiting for food. It was hard to get a parking spot and it's on a busy corner. The tacos were fresh and tasty, we got carne asada tacos and chalupas. We also got a big order... More

No kidding; this place really does have the best Mexican food in the area. It's so small that there can be a wait, and you may or may not find a place to sit (many diners just go there for take-out because of this) but it's so worth it. The food is fresh and based on good traditional Mexican dishes.... More

Very good food and probably the most authentic Mexican cuisine in town. Tastes much more fresh than anyone else. Don't plan to dine in as they location is extremely small. There is almost always a line (mostly students) but it is certainly worth the wait. Much easier to park across First street at a meter than attempt the tiny Maize... More

I always like to stop at Maize for lunch when in Champaign. Great place to pop into for a quick and delicious lunch and if you are lucky - they'll be a place to sit at the window counter too.I like the fish tacos, and with the chips and salsa that come with the meal, I'm "just right" full. Good,... More

Went to see my nephew at U of I and we decided to eat here. It was very busy and very crowded. The line moves pretty fast. Nice and efficient waitstaff. Found a spot by the counter and wasn't long at all before we got our order, and IT WAS CORRECT!!! So many places can't seem to get the order... More

Visited just last week while there visiting family. A very tiny place but WOW! What a wonderful surprise! The food was excellent ! They were quick and the food was great. We ate there at the window counter, there are no tables, just counters. Delicious chips and two kinds of salsa come with whatever you order. There were 3 of... More

Small place with big taste! The food is authentic and priced right. The burritos are big and the chicken nachos were great. Not much room inside so don't go at lunch rush or evening rush.

There is really nothing on the menu that isn't good...It is all made to order and so fresh and authentic...Only dislike is the place can be a mob scene but if you plan the times of your visit you can avoid that. Also they need bigger cups for their salsa..kindve hard to dip your chip in a thimble

I simply told the gal at the register who took my order to pick me something off the lunch menu. See attached picture. It was excellent.
