Tasty with a wide selection of vegetarian options

When I asked about Indian food in Bloomington, this restaurant was the one most recommended. The food was tasty, not at all oily, and reasonably priced. I had the mixed vegetables dish and yellow dal and enjoyed both. The vegetarian section of the menu must have 20 entrees, about 6 to 8 of which... read more

My husband and I had keema samosa with the sauces provided. Next, we had lamb and shrimp curry, rice and nana (husband) and roti (for me). Service was great and helpful when helping me choose dairy free meals. Also, my husband dropped something and they chased us in the parking lot to give it to us.

Too often, restaurants are a fleeting pleasure. How many times have you had a great dining experience, gone back months or a year later, and been disappointed? Maybe the cook changed, there was significant turn-over in the serving staff, sourcing changed----so much can go wrong. I don't know what has caused the decline at Puran, but sadly, there has been... This place is sort of tucked out of the way, but was recommended to me by some ladies of Indian heritage. Figured it was definitely worth the try, and it really was. I had chicken that was cooked in a clay pot. Very flavorful, tender reddish pink chicken with red bell peppers and onions. Perfectly cooked rice. I really enjoyed... More

All the food we tried was delicious. Keema samosa was an awesome lamb appetizer. Cherry naan was a sweet treat. Both of our dishes tasted great. The service was prompt as well. I'll be here again.

Delicious! This is the second Indian restaurant my boyfriend and I have tried in Bloomington. This was great tasting, fast service, and authentic from what I know of Indian food. Definitely will have to go back.

A business meeting brought me back to the Puran. I had been 2 other times; first dining in the resturant ordering off the menu (a great experience - wait staff were helpful and we experienced a great variety food and spice levels), second time (not quite a year ago) at the buffet (a bit disappointing - or rather more than... If I could give Puran more stars, I would in a heartbeat. We wandered in, on a Saturday afternoon, unaware of dinner serving at 5p.m. It was about 4:30, and we wanted to celebrate buying a new car. The host never hesitated, but welcomed us in, seated us, and helped us with a wine selection. He treated us as if... More

we ordered for Mixed Platter thinking that it would be of good quantity and variety.. The plate was not at all appetizing and it had like 3 pakoras and one fried chicken cut into thin 4 pieces, 1 rotten samosa(trust me it had that stinking wierd smell) .. and 2 little cubes of chicken tandoor. I felt even the frozen... More

The day I arrived for lunch, a saturday, the buffet selections where pretty good. But, the meat protein was all chicken. I do love chicken at Indian restaurants, so this was fine. But, some of the dishes were a bit blander than usual. The naan was a bit crispier than usual as well. I did miss the little balls of... More
