Contraversial little place gets my vote

Whoever you talk to in the local area is likely to have a strong opinion about Jim's. It's common to hear of perfectly cooked, amazing steak dinners, with warm and professional service, and I can personally attest to at least a half dozen such experiences of my own. It's also not uncommon to hear... read more

Made a reservation, good thing because this off-the-main-drag establishment got busy. Had a wonderful meal, the special, steak and scallops. Poor waitress wrenched her back but still took very good care off us. Pricey but worth it.

Bloomington is not really a food destination so in that sense this is one of the best places to eat there. It's not amazing but it's usually pretty good. Portion size is good and steaks usually cooked pretty well. Salad was tasty. Ambiance very old fashioned and served an older crowd. Service is a little slow, especially with a bigger... More

Pleasantly surprised by the steak and service. Staff was able to find a space for our large party and service was excellent. Filet mignon and scallops were to die for mouth-watering. Also, the Brittany salad dressing was very tasty!

Excellent steaks, soups, salads! Price is higher than chain restaurants but worth it. Had not been there in 25 years, décor is the same but I like it.

Wow! Had a wonderful steak dinner at Jim's Steakhouse in Bloomington,IL,and it really was fabulous.Beautiful building on several levels, lots of steps. Sometimes I have trouble with steps, but this place was easy to get around in. Once seated, our waitress came quickly & took drink orders, which were filled pronto. I then ordered a small ribeye & baked potato, with salad. Salad arrived almost... More

Was a bit worried walking in because building is a bit dated. The service was great and the steaks cooked and seasoned perfectly. The baked potato and fries were done nicely. Very glad we stopped.

I was in town for a conference and had asked Amy at the Eastland Suite to recommend a few places for dinner. Jim's Steak House was one suggestion and what a great suggestion it was! Jim's is locally owned and the service was very good. Dined on a Friday evening, not crowded but nice group of people. They had a... More

I was in charge of a surprise retirement party for 20 people. Jim's could not have been more accommodating and helpful. They seated us upstairs in half of that dining room at one big table. It was perfect! Our waiter, Chad, did an amazing job keeping track of everyone's bills and worked very hard to make sure all our needs... More

This is hands down the best steak joint in McLean County. The steaks are aged and coated with a nice salt-based rub that creates a nice juicy steak. The side salad and baked potato are huge and delicious, both in classic, basic style with lots of butter and sour cream on the potato. The atmosphere is fantastic, with a very... More
