A Local Gem for a Great Steal Dinner

The best I can say about a restaurant is "We've never had a bad meal there." That's certainly true of Jim's. Old charm ambiance, candles at the table. Attentive wait staff. A little pricey, but they very frequently offer coupons for a great special meal. We love how the dining area is separate... read more

We ate the hamburger lunch here and still talk about it as an unpleasant experience. The food was not very good and the place is so old and out dated it gave us the creeps. We won't go back.

Evening meal is great, but lunch as good. The Maurice salad with Brittany dressing is a meal. a glass of wine and it's all good.

The steaks are always good. The service is very good. The place needs a little updating, but it is a go to place for filets!

Surprised the wife with a birthday dinner at Jim’s. We had a reservation for 5:30 and we were seated promptly. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas which was an extra treat for us. It was cold out and we were seated close to fireplace which was nice a well. We started with the BBQ shrimp appetizer. They were very tasty... More

Going to Jim's is like stepping into a 1970s time machine. It is a quirky mod-tudor restaurant with classic steak-house fare. The steaks and sides are good. Some of the appetizers are not house made.

You might not think of a chicago style steakhouse for burgers, but Jim's is my favorite in town, hands down. Thick, juicy, made-to-order (and they always hit "medium" right on the nose!) The mushrooms on the burger are fresh and sauteed, not just dumped out of a can. All the sides - french fries, chips or potato salad - are... More

Four of us ate at Jims in September and we were very pleased. Two of us had rib eyes and they were the most tender steaks we had ever eaten. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only negative is that it is a little pricey. Great place for a special occasion.

Every time I visit Bloomington for business, this is the first place I always have dinner. I have never had a bad meal and they have the BEST blue cheese dressing. It costs an extra $2.75 and worth every penny. The salad itself is very good and then they put the blue chees dressing on top then put crumbled blue... More

I have never had a disappointing meal here. You are never rushed, the waitstaff is always knowledgeable about their dishes and the steak is delicious. The prime rib is very good, never dry or overcooked. The atmosphere is pretty dated, but it kind of adds to the old steak house charm. I have gone here for lunch as well and... More
