I'd Go Back

Stopped in for a bite the other day and would recommend this restaurant. They didn't really get in too big of a hurry but it wasn't a big deal since we weren't pressed for time. They have a traditional menu for a Mexican restaurant and the prices seem to be average. Food was good and nobody left... read more

This place is a little out of the way but definitely worth the drive. Had heard good reviews and the food was very good, good menu selectioins and seemed good quality. Enjoyed the chimichangas and chimichuries and cocktails were very tasty. We'll be coming back.

It is a good restaurant with feel authentic interior. Also have open place to seat. I went with my wife and she ordered quesadilla and made little change. She excluded some stuffs and ask some on side. She got totally different plate. We thought it may be mistake so we asked to change it. Second time we got row veggie... More

This is a typical Mexican joint. It is not an authentic restaurant. The menu is very good with many specialty items. The free chips and salsa are awesome especially the salsa. All the ground beef dishes are super plain. Rice and beans standard. I always get the steak. This time I got the steak fajita quesadilla which was very good.... More

Had dinner tonight at El Toro with two other people who both ordered the chicken fajitas. One of them commented that his fajitas didn't have a whole lot of chicken. I had the tamales mexicano, which had 3 large chicken tamales smothered in the white liquid cheese sauce. They were overall pretty good. The building has really kind of fallen... More

El Toro is a great local spot for Bloomington/Normal, but also quick and easy for the local subdivisions. BIG menu, not outstanding, but so much better than most Mexican food in the area. Good sized portions, fast service - fresh chips-n-salsa. Great for the family or just the a quick dinner before the movies. They can also do take-out.

First red flag should of been no cars in the parking lot. The steak fajitas were terrible. No seasoning and very small and overcooked pieces of beef..the rice was bland and mush..even the margarita was sub par..cleanliness was also an issue with dust all around the booth we were in. Will not be back to this facility..

We enjoy eating lunch at El Toro once a month or so. The service is friendly and prompt. The warm chips with mild sauce were brought to our table within a minute of our sitting. The portions are generous. My favorite is the beef fajitas with flavorful grilled onions and peppers. The restaurant serves Pepsi products with a full bar... More

Stopped here tonight when passing through Bloomington-Normal. We ate outside on the patio which overlooks the golf course. The building and decor both indoors and outdoors are quite nice. The food, on the other hand, left something to be desired. We had combination plates which included tacos, enchiladas, tamales, beans and rice. Overall, these items were hardly memorable. The taco... This is our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Bloomington-Normal. We have been there for Lunch, Happy Hour and Dinner. Service is always good. You can easily get out of there in 30 minutes for lunch and they have weekly specials including a $4.25 Speedy Gonzalez. More than enough food to compliment the free chips and salsa. They will bring hot salsa... More
