A Classic

I have been eating here for 30 years. This is a dying breed, so if you get a chance get here on a Friday or Saturday night and you will not only have a great meal, but Tony will sing you some great Italian favorites. Great atmosphere. Ok, so the decor is dated and the location isn't downtown Chicago. That's all ok, because the reason to go to Spavone's is for the people and the food. It's old-timey, with a great owner, Tony, who entertains you while you eat; old style surroundings, with dozens of photos of the greats and near greats that visited the restaurant over... More

Tony makes you feel like home in old Italy. A group of friends gathered for outstanding food and, wine, laughs and Tony singing. There is a reason it has been successful for years.

You just gotta go on Tuesdays for the "All you can eat neck bones." Wow, what a treat! Really, for $13,95 you get great service, awesome neck bones in home made spaghetti sauce along with a side of mostacholli to boot The tasty garlic bread fills the bill as well. You can dip it in the sauce with the grated... More

Average food, so so service, nothing to get excited about. If your idea of entertainment is having Tony sing I feel sorry for you.

It was the most expensive lunch we had and just a waste of money. I and my son was not able to finish our meals. It was presented poorly and pasta was floating in all the sauce, it was not tasty or looking appetizing.

Massive menu, personable service, decent prices, huge portions! It's not trendy but if you like family style Italian you'll feel at home. Veal saltimbocca was excellent.

Authentic Italian restaurant...over Olive Garden. Been many times as the menu and specials keep us going back for more. Generous portions and like to save room for desert...so I opt for a doggie bag. Weekends busy, make reservations.

Had a nice dinner here on 1/31/15. Before dinner we had drinks at the bar. The bar tender was friendly, attentive and poured a generous drink. He even escorted us to the hostess stand when our table was ready. We were seated exactly at our reserved time. The food quality is good. They have a very good marinara sauce, my... More
