Bills itself as the "high end" best steak and seafood in the area. The night I was there the bar was full and the dining room was just about empty. Their menu showed a "rare salmon" with soy and ginger.... sounded wonderful. I was then told... no salmon until the weekend. I'm in Salmon... and no salmon?? Got a steak.... More

We were in Salmon to take a Salmon river rafting trip. Our group ate at the Shady nook the night before we left. The food was very good and the service super nice. This restaurant has been around for 30 years or more and has a following. There is a lovely outside seating area.

Always a treat to be in Salmon visiting with family. It was a nice evening so we ate outside. Our server was excellent & friendly. My son in law & daughter ordered a spicy gazpacho that they shared with us. It was tasty. The best meal was the fresh Alaska Copper River salmon-cooked to perfection. The barbecue ribs & chicken... We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here while lodging in Salmon for one night. We made reservations, and when we mentioned we were from out of town, we were told they would save a window table for us. We were able to get our desired table, and were treated with the utmost respect, professionalism and friendliness that we could ask for.... More

Took 3 hours for dinner. The owner come out crying that she is dying of Cancer so we all need to be patient. She told us we were TRASHY BIKERS trying to get a free meal. The sign out front says Bikers Welcome, It's a Lie! I think it's totally inappropriate to tell vacationing customers U are dying of Cancer... More

Very diverse selection. You should be able to find something to suit. Plates are Large. Service is good and congenial. Not rushed, so enjoy good food. Old house converted to a good Restaurant. They have Patio seating. Was surprise to find a bit of Cajun, on the menu.

I grew up in Salmon and haven't been back in almost 20+years. My husband and I stayed at a hotel within walking distance to the Shady Nook. The ambiance is very quaint and they offer outside seating. The food was prepared perfectly. In fact the food was so good ate there two of the three nights we were there. Probably... More

Spent a couple of days in Salmon last week on our motorcycle vacation. The Shady Nook was by far one of the best meals we had in the area. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Nice restaurant with a bit of outside dining. Chairs sat on the lawn and tended to sink into the ground since it was wet. This was minor, though, compared to the outstanding food. Be sure to try the lime cilantro vinaigrette; they need to bottle and sell that. I had the Copper River salmon with a mango-habenero sauce that was... More
