Description: The first inkling of an idea for the Sandpiper Restaurants came to original...
The first inkling of an idea for the Sandpiper Restaurants came to original founder Bob Angell as he lounged on the beaches of California. While attending college he enjoyed watching the sandpipers darting in and out of the surf, and after graduation Bob moved back home to Boise, Idaho, where he opened the first of many Sandpiper Restaurants in 1971. From its humble beginnings in Boise, the Sandpiper grew until there were locations in Oregon, Arizona, and a total of four in Idaho. After several owner and management changes, there are currently two locations still open in Idaho. The Idaho Falls location was opened in 1974 by Ron Obendorf, who is still the manager. The Pocatello location opened in 1975 and has been managed by Rod Russell since 1985. Rose Anne Voigt came on as a member of the management team in 1995. Always intended to be casual fine dining restaurants specializing in steaks, seafood and pastas, the Sandpiper Restaurants continue to enjoy great popularity. Our guests have consistently bestowed us with Best Restaurant, Best Steak and Seafood, Best Fine Dining, and Best Date Place awards. Both locations offer outside dining during the beautiful Idaho summer and fall, as well as facilities for larger gatherings.

Good Food, Cool Mint Machine, and Great Fish Tacos.

Just as I said in the title this is one of the better places to eat in Idaho Falls. Close to the river and is nice wit friends eating outside. I am addicted to their mints and wooden mint machine for some reason. You can't go wrong. Check hours as they change with the change of seasons.

Everything was fabulous, the atmosphere, service and food. We had the seafood sampler appetizer and it was D Lish the calamari was actual strips of calamari steak instead of rings and the shrimp was perfect and the bacon wrapped scallops were delicious. We had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. We were served warm bread that was crispy... More

Would absolutely go back. Food was delicious and they have white table cloth is you ask. The waitress and the patrons seemed fine we were a gay couple and it was wonderful. We will definetely stop here if we pass through again.

We were looking for a really good place to take our daughter for dinner on her birthday. We choose the Sandpiper and were very pleased with the whole experience. Our server was very good. The steaks were cooked excellent and were really tender. Salad was very good. We had escargot as an appetizer. They were fine but have had better.... More

This restaurant has an extensive menu and a good selection of wines by the glass. The steaks are well prepared and service is attentive. It is also located just off I-15.

Food is the best in town. Granted that town is Pocatello, so keep that in mind. Decor is standard chophouse, can be good for a date or business meeting. Good selection of steak, Great selection of wine, for any town. People that complain about the prices are certainly from Pocatello. If you've ever been to a chophouse the prices are... More

The food is decent, but for the prices they charge it should be better than decent. They don't have many food options.

Very friendly people, let's start there. They have a nice deck too. The decor is pretty dated. My wife and I ordered the cheapest dinner on the menu, a chicken sandwich. We also had three drinks total. The tab was 50. I think that is a bit much for dry chicken and beer. The steaks are good, but be prepared... More

I would love to tell you what I had, but since it's not on the regular menu, all I can say is it was scrumptious. I typically don't like chicken breasts, but this was juicy and literally melted in your mouth. Plus a great steak. And then finished with a white chocolate dessert. It was all good, but at the...
