ups and downs

There is a wonderful soup/salad bar which we took advantage of; my husband had a bacon cheeseburger that was quite good and I had a patty melt which was about average--hardly any cheese. We certainly did not leave hungry! The place was practically empty but the service seemed lacking and the... read more

I have eaten at this restaurant a couple of times before today (5-30-2015) and the food and service was good, but today the service was terrible. I was shown to my booth next to a couple that were eating and was told that someone would be right there to get my order, to make a long story short I wait... More

We try to stop there every time we we are in the area. The food is always good as is the service. I have noticed that there is always a number of locals there, which is a good sign.

Not a bad experience, good chicken fired steak but the salad was wet, as in water inning off it, so the dressing didn't "stick." My husband liked his Salisbury steak, great mushroom sauce he said. Service was great even though the wait staff were very busy!

Arrived for late morning breakfast. A friendly server seated us immediately and coffee followed. The menu is varied with Senior's choices. Our eggs and bacon arrived on heated plates with separate hot plates for very crisp and tasty Belgium waffles. No runny syrup in the eggs! There is a lunch buffet at noon with hot entrees plus salads. Homemade pies... More

The staff here is always well trained and easy to deal with and when we are traveling late it is pretty much the only place open. There is also a framed photograph of a herd of sheep at dusk that makes the visit worthwhile. But, I'm not really a fan of the food. The water is terrible, so you need... More

The food although basic and simple was good home cooked at a great price. Because I was on a diet could not yet much but my partner had the pulled pork sandwich with tater tots and loved it. The bill was very reasonable so it is a great value!

I had the hand-cut sirloin with mashed potatoes (at my request, they added a bit of garlic to the potatoes) with gravy and a garden salad. The steak was good, but John's Steak and Seasoning Spice really awakened the flavor for me. I also used the Heinz 57 steak sauce provided. But, perhaps the best part of the meal was... More

The staff was really friendly but the food was just average. The onion rings weren't crispy and neither were the croutons in my salad. Decent diner food I guess. Might try them for breakfast but wasn't impressed with dinner or excited to go back there again.
