The Hungry Onion is a little Drive-In/Diner that harkens back to the old Car Hop days. It's small, in need of some cleaning and updating, but overall, just what you'd expect for an older burger joint. For an independent, locally owned mainstay of Meridian, it's cute and inviting. It's got personality. Just as a note: There is no indoor seating... More

The Hungry Onion has been one of my favorite drive-ins around, The carhop service is great. They also have amazing mini corndogs home made!

The food is your typical fast food. Good portions for the price. Sometimes the service is not too hot. Have waited for five minutes and finally had to knock on the window and they were not even busy.

Pretty decent food. A little slow though. Good flavored drinks. A Meridian landmark for a long time.

The local people are just doing it right. Girls are always smiling and nice when they take your order. It comes out fairly quick, you know it is not pre-warmed garbage. Always cooked just right and plenty of fries. Love this old place.

Hungry Onion is a drive up, eat in your car or on a picnic table. In years past they had great food, but they've slipped to just average now.

Juicy, sloppy, greasy and amazingly flavorful just the way a burger should be! No health food here.

The Hungry Onion is a late 50s-early 60s drive-up burger joint. Before drive-thru restaurants existed, these places had waitresses who brought food to your car on trays that mounted on the driver's side window. The place is on one of the main streets of old Meridian and is a great place to get a burger, fries (or tater tots!). Recommended... More

The food is tasty and well cooked. The fries and tater tots are to die for. They still have car hops that are quick and personable. All in all, a nice experience every time we go there.
