Description: Louie's Restaurant was born out of necessity in 1965. It wasn't so much...
Louie's Restaurant was born out of necessity in 1965. It wasn't so much that Ketchum-Sun Valley needed another restaurant. Louie Mallane, the founder and proprietor, used his Italian heritage and previous restaurant experience to fill the pizza niche in this small resort area. Living the American dream of owning your own business Louie opened up Ketchum's first Italian Restaurant. With a bank loan of $150, he purchased flour, mushrooms, napkins, and a few other necessary items. Then he rented the kitchen of Nedder's Bar and set up shop, making as many as 20 pizzas a day. Within six weeks, Louie had paid off his original loan. Six months later, he moved to expanded quarters in the Sawtooth Club. Louie was his own cook, and hired waitresses. The dining room sat 40 people, but the bar was soon expanded to the dining room. Two and one-half years later Louie's moved to a building which had been the first church in Ketchum. In the ensuing years it had also served as an espresso house and beer garden. After 35 wonderful years of business in the Ketchum-Sun Valley area Louie and his wife Margaret moved to Boise to be with their children and grandchildren. The people and the memories of the Ketchum restaurant have made such a positive impact on Louie and his family, but also touched the lives of many old employees and patrons as well. As the reputation for quality pizzas and Italian food grew Louie has always worked hard to give you, the customer, the best value for your dollar. Always experimenting with new recipes and using the freshest ingredients possible is the commitment Louie's is always giving to quality at a fair price.

New Years Eve

We took the family here for New Years dinner. It was a little slow but we were not in a hurry tonight. The food was very good and excellent pizza. Louie's is a consistent very good place to eat.

Frist let me say the food was excellent. Big portions enough to take some home. The prices were very reasonable. One big downer, the seating was very tight. The waitress had a terrible time getting in between the tables. I wondered if the place was overly full for the capacity. Which makes me wonder why they dont take reservations I... More

This is not where you go if you are in a hurry. Hope was an excellent waitress, but there is a lot of time between courses. The food is plentiful, the bread excellent and service was very personable.

Louie's started in Sun Valley, and you had to get there early to get in. Fortunately, the restaurant in Meridian has plenty of room for hungry diners. The lunch buffet is fresh and bountiful. It's a great place for families with enough variety to please the pizza eaters and/or the pasta eaters.

Their pizza crusts are totally inedible, too hard to even cut or bite into. Toppings were fine tho. Salad bar just so-so.

We have had 2 Wedding rehearsal dinners here and they were amazing. However I was told how amazing their Sunday brunch was and came away a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong the food that they had was great but just didn't seem to offer anymore than a everyday diner might if they had a brunch. Nothing to go wild... More

We had to wait a few minutes for the Hostess. Wasn't sure if we were suppose to seat ourselves but she was friendly and apologized. Our server was nice and helpful. Our food was good. It was on the average side but my daughter liked her baked Rigatoni. and she is on the picky side. All in all the experience... More

My family eats here for Sunday brunch about once every-other month. The food quality and selection is just average; however, there are so few buffet Sunday brunches in the Boise area, and this one is quite reasonable. The buffet features cooked-to-order omelettes, a salad bar, and a few breakfast and lunch choices. Mostly basic stuff, not much (if any) Italian... More

I have been going to Louie's since 1977 when its only location was in Ketchum in a small, historical church. Now I keep coming back to the Meridian location for one thing - its sausage pizza. Louie's has the only sausage pizza that I like. It is made with crumbled, browned Italian sausage that is awesome. Louie's sauce is also... More

They have a wide variety of great food. Their lasagne is wonderful. We get takeout pizza from here because of the good quality crumbled sausage. My family loves the fettucine and chicken parmesan with spaghetti also. They have gluten free pizza crust that is okay and some gluten free noodles that are very good. They have 2 private rooms in...
