Description: For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming into town and the last place to go before leaving. For others, it's where they met their significant other, perhaps over a bar marg. The Pioneer Saloon, renowned for perfectly aged, tender and flavorful beef, is typical of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink. Natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms help recreate an authentic saloon atmosphere. Duffy and Sheila Witmer have been the sole owners of the Pioneer Saloon since 1986. Today, with their children, Alyson, Chloe and Dillon, they strive to honor a historical classic while bringing new ideas to Ketchum's restaurant scene.

The Pio is perfect! I'm always a bit disappointed when we do not have to wait for a table. Their bar snack -- crisp tortilla chips and house-made salsa (also available in local stores) are addictive. We've been there many times, and I cannot think of an instance when anyone in our group had any disappointments. Even if you're too... More

We stopped in for a drink and late day snack and were enchanted with the restaurant and the people working there. Everyone was so friendly and full of interesting stories about the place. The food was very good. We had a great time!

No reservations is not really a problem as they have a large bar/lounge area with excellent service. Great steaks and the baked idahos are fantastic option for those who don't want a big steak. Great staff, friendly service , warm fun atmosphere.

Atmosphere is great here, very lively and fun. These people know how to cook a steak exactly right! Service was great, our server was fantastic. If you go in the evening, prepare to wait but it is worth it!

Atmosphere is great … service outstanding and accommodating … the manager/host is a hoot (that’s a good thing for you young’uns). There’s no need to write a long review … cowboy and animal décor, good food, and generous libations. Sure, there’s a wait to get seated … all good places have them in a ski town … get over it.

We go to the Pioneer every time we come to Sun Valley. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I love the bone in rib eye but the Idaho trout is tough to beat! Enjoy!

Since they do not take reservations - it can be difficult to get a table. It is a lively place and great service. The kids loved the burgers & I had the trout (fantastic). A great tip is to get there at 4:30 - you will get a table between in about an hour.

Walk in to the stagecoach poster of Colonel somebody's old west show and some big old distinct mule deer and dark saloon ambiance. (Read all the history stuff in the menu. It is interesting.). The saloon service was friendly and prompt. Great family place that made us feel welcome. Great music and good food. I suggest the prime rib Ketchum... More
