Description: For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming...
For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming into town and the last place to go before leaving. For others, it's where they met their significant other, perhaps over a bar marg. The Pioneer Saloon, renowned for perfectly aged, tender and flavorful beef, is typical of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink. Natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms help recreate an authentic saloon atmosphere. Duffy and Sheila Witmer have been the sole owners of the Pioneer Saloon since 1986. Today, with their children, Alyson, Chloe and Dillon, they strive to honor a historical classic while bringing new ideas to Ketchum's restaurant scene.

Pio - as the locals call it- has the best prime rib and fresh fish I have ever had. I love this place! You have to get their early if you don't want to wait an hour or two. The bar is crowded but fun. They have the best margaritas so sit back and enjoy.

It was ALL good, good service, great steaks! We always love the Pioneer when we go to the Ketchum area. It really is a must go. We were greeted at the door, and were quickly served a drink while we waited for a table. The dinner service was quick and well oiled. The meal was well worth the price paid.... More

My husband had the in bone prime rib and it was melt in your mouth good. I had the halibut which was cooked to perfection. It always seems that halibut is over cooked but not here! I loved it and recommended it to the table next to us. He was also impressed and thanked us for the recommendation. The service... More

I ate dinner at this location with 3 coworkers. We all had prime rib or steak. The salad and sides were average, but the steak was fantastic. We tried the mud pie for desert and it was great, but very filling. The place was packed and the tables are right next to each other. The place needs to be way... More

The prime rib is the best I have ever had, the Jim's spuds are fantastic and filling. The teriyaki ribeye is fantastic! Can't complain about anything except the mudpie which they changed the ice cream from what it used to be. It should just be mocha, no espresso chunks in it. The service was great and always is. The manager... More

We enjoyed our dinner. The salad at the beginning was not good. Very crowded, get there early. It is small and the chairs were not comfortable.

Prime rib was to die for. The rice that came with the prime rib was delicious and if you upgrade to a baked potato make sure you are hungry, they are huge. Excellent and friendly service-a must while visiting Ketchum.

The Pio (pie-o) is a must do if you are in Sun Valley. The inside is an old west museum with a restaurant which makes it very hard to read the menu when you first sit down because that is so much history of days gone by that you want to look at on the walls. If you want prime... More
