Great inventive salads, juices with chia seeds and hot dishes. The owner seems to know ever regular who walks in by name. Their quinoa salad is among the best I've ever had and their carrot soup was delicious. Inexpensive, delicious and easy parking. We got there at 1PM on a weekday and they were already sold out of three items... More

At edge of downtown in a small shopping area. Not obvious from the curb that the food is exceptional -- but it is. Tamales are killer -- much lighter than standard Mexican approach. The chef (Alejandro?) is a great guy from Mexico who has studied in California and adapted the food to other Latin American traditions. Fantastic bean soup. Subtle... More

Carambola's Friday tamale special is the best. And the rest of their delicious menu is wonderful as well!

I have eaten here a few times and still do not understand the popularity. Parking is limited. It is only open for lunch and is a bit pricey. Not a lot of room. You order at the counter, sit in wooden chairs and someone brings you your food. It is fresh and not typical Latin American/Mexican. Not spicey. Not abundant... More

After reading all of the reviews, I made a special trip to Coeur d'Alene to visit this cafe. While it was nice, the service was excellent, the food was good not great. I was a little disappointed. The prices are fair, and interior was clean and bright. I wouldn't make a special trip to visit again, but we did enjoy... More

I've been to Cafe Carambola many dozens of times. I keep coming back. I even bring interview candidates from work here to impress them. The flavor of the food is very tasty and authentic. The owner is from Mexico and provides great customer service. The seating does fill up right at noon on some days.

I loved this little cafe! I've worked 1/2 a mile away for the last 3 years and have never seen it. My loss. Friday is homemade tamale day. Apparently I have never had a "real" tamale. These are the real deal. The owner and staff are super friendly and the service is excellent.

Due to the numerous positive reviews, we stopped by Cafe Carambola on a recent trip to Coeur d'Alene. We were not disappointed! Our experience seems to be the norm. The owner greeted us warmly, explained the menu, and encouraged us to mix and match salad with sandwich or soup in order to get to try as many flavors as possible.... More

Though the venue is of limited seating the cafe has a very loyal following and does a brisk lunch business. It is a bright and clean spot with a case full of freshly made salads, offerings of a couple of soups each day and a menu of hot and cold sandwiches of the South American style. Every meal I have...
