I loved this little cafe! I've worked 1/2 a mile away for the last 3 years and have never seen it. My loss. Friday is homemade tamale day. Apparently I have never had a "real" tamale. These are the real deal. The owner and staff are super friendly and the service is excellent.

Due to the numerous positive reviews, we stopped by Cafe Carambola on a recent trip to Coeur d'Alene. We were not disappointed! Our experience seems to be the norm. The owner greeted us warmly, explained the menu, and encouraged us to mix and match salad with sandwich or soup in order to get to try as many flavors as possible.... More

Though the venue is of limited seating the cafe has a very loyal following and does a brisk lunch business. It is a bright and clean spot with a case full of freshly made salads, offerings of a couple of soups each day and a menu of hot and cold sandwiches of the South American style. Every meal I have... Check the hours, add it to your list of places to eat in Coeur d' Alene (CdA). Homestyle fare in a clean, professionally run eatery. Seriously, you'd swear your Tia is working there. ask about the classes, if you can, take one. This is among the very best of why we eat out.

Amazing lunch! My husband had the best pork sandwich he has ever had and the selection of salads make it difficult to choose which one to try. We would definitely recommend this little gem.

We decided we needed to go here because of reading other reviews. We were not disappointed. The owner sat down with us and discussed his salads and sandwiches and suggested we try the combination of both because it was our first visit. We have never had anything that compares with what we had for lunch on that visit. We are... More

Based upon prior reviews, we found this restaurant during a day trip to Coeur d'Alene. The owner explained his salads and sandwiches, and since we were new customers, suggested we try a half sandwich with a salad selection to enjoy the variety. The tastes were unique and very enjoyable, and we certainly would return when visiting again.

An example of what I tasted yesterday -- smoky bean soup with pomegranaites with a tasty kale salad. My friend had one of the most flavorful club sandwiches ever. The food is fresh and prepared every day, It is a family affair. When they run out, the food is gone for the day.

1st time visit. Sumptuous Squash& Coconut soup & Black Nile Barley Tabbouleh & Marinated Tomato & Avocado Salad. Refreshing Flavors of both salads complemented & accentuated one another. Pomegranate in the Tabbouleh salad popped the flavor. Carlos, the host, made time to provide a helpful overview of this broad representation of central/South American fare. Great place that will make ur... More
