Sadly, Scruds is now closed. There is a new burger restaurant opening in its location. Hope the new place is good!
Want burgers, fries and shakes that remind you of the good ol' days, as in before McDonalds, BK and similar clones? Then head to Scrugs in downtown Coeur d'Alene for a trip down memory lane. Great burgers - check. Big burgers - check. Huge burgers (the 5-lb Scrugs Challenge) - check. Stuffed burgers - check. Milkshakes to order - check.... More
For what I would classify as a bit of a dive, these guys put out dang good burger; not to mention their fries and shakes. My spouse and I settled in here after a long day of house hunting, and were we pleased. Honest to goodness broiled burgers stuffed with cheese. I don't know about you, but a broiled burger... More
My husband wanted to try it knowing that I'm allergic to beef. Yes, I'm allergic to beef it upsets my stomach for days. I've eaten organic to different kinds of beef same result. Anyways, I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu with honey mustard. The chicken was around six ounces, cooked perfectly, juicy and had a tomato, lettuce, onion on it... More
A great little burger place! We shared the 1lb Scrud and it was excellent. The 5lb challenge is available and successful diners are featured on a big board. (finish a 5lb Scrud in 60 min or less and it's free). The only downside was no alcohol available.
I love a good hamburger and Scruds is one of my favorite places I have visited. Stuffed burger and food challenge seems to go together, but the quality of the burger is quite good. The seating is a bit worn, but this is a burger joint with great food. I think it deserves a higher rating than where it is... More
I was surprised at how small it was, and the booth seats were all ripped, but the service was very nice. I really liked their fry sauce and if you like baseball, you'll feel at home.
The sign caught my husband's eye - "STUFFED BURGERS?" he screamed! And in we went. We loved the atmosphere (my husband is a baseball freak) and my son loved the writing on the wall. There was 7 of us - we were greeted by a friendly young man and seated right away. The service was good (he was very polite... More
We went to eat at Scrud's on the recommendation from some friends. I was expecting a gourmet burger place like Red Robin, but I was surprised to find more of a 50's diner with a counter. The food was good and plentiful. The hamburgers were tasty and very greasy. Make sure you have plenty of napkins!
I appreciate your review, but I wanted to have the chance to explain something. My burgers aren't greasy! They are juicy and loaded with flavor. I flame broil my burgers just to cut the fat and grease. I understand that most places, like the one you mentioned, are dried out and only drip the extra sauces that you might add,... More
At the recommendations of friends we decided to give Scrud's a try. We were surprised to find it had been in Coeur D'Alene for more than two years. The place had a nice look, and feel, and the food smelled and looked terrific. Sadly , we will never know. It was lunch time, and the nine tables were full. One... More
I apologize for your experience, Tuesdays are usually quite slow and we used that day to train two new employees. We had a problem with our POS system in the middle of that rush leaving the only trained server to try and figure it out. We try very hard to give good service, but are definitely not perfect. If you... More
