Better than my past experiences

I have been to Captain Joe's only twice before, because as a seafood lover I don't find it very good. This time I was surprised. I ordered the catfish and fantailed shrimp, both fried. the shrimp were great, but the catfish was just ok. The salad bar was good, but the baked potato was just average... read more

My husband & I went here for lunch on Memorial day during an off hour (between 2 & 3PM). We ordered from the lunch menu (available until 4PM). I ordered the chicken quesadilla, seafood gumbo & onion rings. My husband ordered fantail shrimp, coleslaw, and onion rings. The onion rings were fresh battered, huge, crisp, and delicious. They were served... More

We had lunch here while in town for a class reunion. I had the seafood plate with shrimp, oysters and the best crab cake I've ever had. It also has a 40 item salad bar with just about anything you could ask for. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

My wife and I ate shrimp and had it fried. Worse shrimp I've ever had. I'm from Fernandina Beach Fla and yes my family was shrimpers. So I know a little about shrimp. They were so bad I just asked for a box to go after the first bite. The service was, take order, bring disgusting food, check. The owner... More

This restaurant has some of the best bite size shrimp we had had in quite a while. Everyone's food in our party was good. The lettuce on the salad bar could have been a little fresher. Other than that, I would rate this restaurant very high.

One thing I love about Waycross is that it has some of the best food you could possibly find. Captain Joe's has always been one of my favorite places to eat at back home. The soup and salad bar is the best you will ever come across. The only issue is that the restaurant has aged alot of the years... More

Tasteless and expensive. We all decided to eat here after attending a funeral down the road. We had a large group of people...instead of receiving menus...we were given a paper to check off what we wanted. No prices were listed however but I had some what of an expectation of the prices. After some thought...I decided on the scallops with... More

We stopped here on our way through for lunch. The salad bar was good and the fried shrimp was tasty. The collard greens were excellent and so was the service. Best of all it was only about $10.00 per person. I would recommend this place to anyone who like simple seafood.

Ate here for the first time just yesterday. It was a little before dinner and it was pretty busy. Got a to-go plate. The staff was very friendly, decor wasn't bad. I got a combo plate of grilled fish and fried oysters with a side of fried mac-n-cheese because I hadn't ever eaten any of that. The grilled fish tasted... More

My wife and I eat here about once every other month because it is close to our house and their salad and soup bar is really good. However, if you are in the mood for FRESH seafood, don't order it here. Their shrimp and fish are frozen and you can tell it when they are served to you. We just... More
