Not what I had anticipated

I ate here once before and the food was excellent southern cooking, so I was really looking forward to this meal. I was SO DISAPPOINTED. The fried chicken was dry and rubbery, the mashed potatoes were thin, the green beans were over cooked to the point of mush and the cornbread was so dry it could... read more

Since visiting my dear friend in the Atlanta/Roswell area, she has wanted me to experience real Southern food. Her family goes to "Matthews" every Sunday after church & it appeared that when we all went together this past Sunday, that many other families do the same thing. Matthews has been open since 1955. It is set up has a cafeteria... More

Matthews food is well prepared and the selection of items is good. Just know that it is mostly prepared southern style but in a very good way.

Heavy grease, overcooked vegetables. Not for me, but way popular with those who like this type of cuisine.

The locals love it but we were never impressed. Seemed like the food was canned or frozen and always spent a good bit of time on the steam table line.

You step back in time when you enter the narrow glass doors of Matthew's Cafeteria. Everything there seems from another generation except the ladies working the line. You wish for a lovely southern greeting of 'Hi y'all! Welcome to Matthew's.' That doesn't happen, but the food is quite good. Chicken fingers are a great value as they are large fingers... More

I have been going to Matthews for years, some of the changes they have made are good but in that changeover there will be certain people who should not have been hired and I wished I knew this woman's name, she is just hateful. today when she was asked where was the fish she pointed to the three in the... Ate dinner there for the first time 12-12-14 the food wasn't that good, no seasoning and blanded mac&cheese was the worst I ever had and for two plates to go was $21 I'll never eat dinner there again, but breakfast is excellent

Excellent food for a reasonable price. It is a local favorite and landmark. Has a good variety to choose from and everything is made from scratch.
