Longtime Favorite

Recently returned to dine here with my family. Used to live in the area and this was a favorite spot. Have been friends with the owners family for years. Quality food and service. Home cooking southern style.

Dear Travelers and Atlanta residents: I have intermittently eaten here in last 6-8 months, of some of that time in transition-moving-even homeless at periods! I was told that my shoes "smelled" and that they were not going to let me eat that day! I know the owner-co-owner are country southern types, but even accounting 4 this, it was uncouth, rude,... The food is hit or miss. We went for a group breakfast and even though it is cafeteria style they ran out of EGGS of all things. We had to hold up the line waiting. But the food is pretty good.

Breakfast, lunch and/or dinner finds this outstanding cafeteria packed with happy diners. Matthews is a good neighbor to nearby Tucker HS and provides pre-game fried chicken dinners for the teams.

A storefront cafeteria on Main Street in Tucker. The food was excellent and atmosphere marvelous. Many patrons were repeat customers many times over. The staff knew them by name. We will come back!

The fact that it says Cafeteria, should say it all. Quick food, selected in line and carry to your table. They do a thriving local business, so one can be guaranteed of fresh food. Workers are courteous, but very busy. If waiting on an item for your meal, you may need to check on it yourself.

Set in the "old town" of Tucker, this cafeteria is a great attraction for anyone wanting good, southern cooking. Pick from fresh green beans, turnip greens, black-eyed peas, fried catfish, fried chicken, sweet tea, cornbread, etc. Don't look for anything fancy. This cafeteria is right out of the 40s and 50s (and that's meant to be a compliment!) Better call... More

Best home home cooking I've had in a long time. Meat & two veggies along with banana pudding. Banana pudding was just like my grandmothers. Can't want to visit again should I be in the Atlanta area.

I ate here once before and the food was excellent southern cooking, so I was really looking forward to this meal. I was SO DISAPPOINTED. The fried chicken was dry and rubbery, the mashed potatoes were thin, the green beans were over cooked to the point of mush and the cornbread was so dry it could have been made of... More
