The Basket Bakery originally began as a wholesale bakery with a small additional luncheon room, operated by the Frieses, a German couple. As the bakery’s customers grew, so did the popularity of Hilde's extraordinary cooking. Now in its third location, The Village Corner German Restaurant includes a traditional style German tavern, a European bakery and a cafe style dining room that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. A traditional German menu contains potato pancakes, Black Forest ham and Weiner Schnitzel among other selections. Our artistic and decorative bakery cakes are worthy of any special occasion. In addition The Village Corner boasts a wonderful banquet room that facilitates weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, parties and much more.

We drive from Florida to eat at the Village Corner always on our trip to Stone Mountain. The best German food and the price is just right.

Easy to miss, if one is not familiar with the five point intersection. However, the fare that is served deems it worthwhile to be on the lookout for the location. The tables dressed with linen is a nice touch that adds to a higher quality establishment. This combination restaurant - bakery can actually be fun, if one is of a... More

We were seated quickly but the service was very slow. Took eight minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us. Paid a good price for food that was not very good. My husband thought it odd they were playing the "blues" in a German restaurant. We purchased cookied at the bakery and they were very good. Would not recommend this restaurant.

I am no expert in German food, but I remember fondly a German restaurant I used to visit in Biloxi, Mississippi. I enjoyed everything I had there, so I was excited to see this spot. It seemed to be a slow night, and I was there after the usual dinner hour, so I was seated at a table in the... More

The building is beautiful and gives an authentic German ambiance. There is a new brew pub attached that wasn't open when we were there the last time so we can't speak for that. We have been to The Village Corner several times to eat; hubby is from Germany. We always get the potato pancakes with smoked salmon and it is... More

I have read the recent reviews and am disappointed to read the negative comments. We have dined here for the past several years both for brunch and dinner. The food has always been fresh and delicious! The staff is lovely and has always been more than accommodating. I see every walk of life dining there regularly with no complaints. If... More

We had hiked up Stone Mountain for Easter morning services and were searching for some good food. We saw this German restaurant on the corner and decided to give it a try since we love German food. My husband walked in to get a menu to make sure they served the items we like to eat. (I will add that... More

Decided to get out of the hotel and take a little drive. Thought a trip over to Stone Mountain would make for a nice escape. On the way there I was contemplating what to have for lunch and for some reason German food popped into my head. I was almost to the mountain and had forgotten l about lunch, when... More

My daughter and I had some banking to do this afternoon but as son ash she picked me up we both realized we were HUNGRY. Stopped at the Village Corner because it was right there around the corner. The sunshine we had earlier today and disappeared and were dealing with a cloudy dreary day. Well, time for Tomato Basil Soup... More
