Description: The Basket Bakery originally began as a wholesale bakery with a small additional luncheon room, operated by the Frieses, a German couple. As the bakery’s customers grew, so did the popularity of Hilde's extraordinary cooking. Now in its third location, The Village Corner German Restaurant includes a traditional style German tavern, a European bakery and a cafe style dining room that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. A traditional German menu contains potato pancakes, Black Forest ham and Weiner Schnitzel among other selections. Our artistic and decorative bakery cakes are worthy of any special occasion. In addition The Village Corner boasts a wonderful banquet room that facilitates weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, parties and much more.

We've enjoyed the Village Corner since its early days as the Basket Bakery. It is a small and personable family-owned place with a solid reputation. Both the menu and the atmosphere seem to improve with each successive visit, and we have never been disappointed. Tonight's visit was no exception, and we had the added benefit of watching one of the... More

I was recommended by a friend of mine who had purchased a wedding cake, he raved about the cake! I ordered 3 cakes and a fruit tart. When I arrived 2 cakes were the wrong size, we could only exchange one. There was a cake premade that sat in the cooler so they took the cake back to redo the... More

Four of us stopped here for a casual lunch. Good selection of German oriented fare. Service was attentive and pleasant. Food was fresh, well prepared, well presented, and delicious. Four sandwich platters with fountain drinks including tip was $66. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below

This was my second time at the Village Corner with family for a special event dinner. Everything was excellent - good German been on tap, schnitzel, etc etc. Our waitress Jessica was super. Our party had a cake baked in their bakery - wonderful. We then ordered pretzels to take home for breakfast the next day. If I lived in... More

This is one of our favorite local restaurants. The service is always friendly, food is always wonderful. Not a fancy place but if you want tasty German food, you need to try this place. I would spend my money on appetizers and dinner and not mess with the sweets, they do a better spatzle with cheese than pastries.

My family visited place in April 2014 while visiting Atlanta. The place was recommended by AAA Travel Guide so we decided to give it a try. My mother in law was German so I am pretty familiar with German food. Well, this one was bad! Our dishes were serve cold, my meat tasted like it was frozen and than reheated... More

I have been here twice in the last few years on business dinners. I can tell you that they are trying hard to get it right. I have traveled all over Germany so I can attest that they are close but need a little bit of work. First of all order the Schwine Haxe, this generous park shank will fill... More

Many of you will be happy to hear that the health inspection was back up to a 93. The food was okay. I had the sausage plate. The knockwurst was average as was the bratwurst. The grilled potatoes were really good and the sour kraut was a little dry and not a lot of flavor. My husband said the jaegerschnitzel... More

Whenever we go to Stone Mountain we always stop at this fine German restaurant and bakery. We had friends with us and ate brunch, most getting the Steak Benedict. I love the decor, and our server was engaging and cheerful. Food and desserts exceeded our expectations. Price appropriate for type of cuisine and location. Our friends were delighted as much...
