Description: The Basket Bakery originally began as a wholesale bakery with a small additional luncheon room, operated by the Frieses, a German couple. As the bakery’s customers grew, so did the popularity of Hilde's extraordinary cooking. Now in its third location, The Village Corner German Restaurant includes a traditional style German tavern, a European bakery and a cafe style dining room that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. A traditional German menu contains potato pancakes, Black Forest ham and Weiner Schnitzel among other selections. Our artistic and decorative bakery cakes are worthy of any special occasion. In addition The Village Corner boasts a wonderful banquet room that facilitates weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, parties and much more.

We have traveled a lot, but didn't see many German restaurants in the southern US, so this was a welcome surprise. The food was good, they accomodated a to go order. The prices were a little high, but you could expect that at such a niche restaurant.

Some of the best German food I've had outside of Germany. I really enjoy the zitronenschnitzel and some of the sausages.

We went here as my aunt likes it and my wife and I enjoy German food. They now have their own beer--and it was tasty (I had a Dopplebock). The food was pretty solid--I had sauerbraten and my wife had cheese spatzle, which she loves. I did not notice any server problems--we were not in a hurry. Bathrooms were clean... More

Was looking for something different while driving through Georgia. German food fit the bill this evening. The food was delicious, the decor was fun, and the desserts were great!

I love German food so finding this close to Stone Mountain (where we were vacationing) was exciting. The menu is pretty traditional and they had a couple German beers that looked interesting. After that.... things went downhill. The servers were mediocre and barely spoke to us, just threw food our way and hustled along. The food was edible, but nothing... More

Stopped here on Nov. 8 with family for lunch after a fun morning at Stone Mountain. We were told by one employee to pick a table, only to have a surly waitress tell us that we needed to be seated by the hostess. We turned around and waited where we were supposed to. The hostess came out and began to... More

My husband and I ate at the Village Corner Restaurant and Bakery on 11/1/2014 around 8pm. We have been there many times to eat as it has been one of our favorite places to go whenever we had a little extra money to treat ourselves. We ordered our food, ate, and paid our ticket when it was time to leave.... More

My wife and I stopped here while visiting Stone Mountain, Ga. We don't usually eat German food but what we ordered here was excellent. The potato cakes w sour cream and cranapple sauce were outstanding. I ordered a Reuben brat. It was a brat served on a sliced pretzel braid, w Swiss, Russian dressing and saurkrat. Fantastic. The very large... More

Stopped here to revive after a morning at a fair in nearby Stone Mountain park. Menu has something for every appetite. The potato pancakes on the appetizer side were amazing. Loved the ham on pretzel roll and my spouse's schnitzel was excellent. The food was a bit slow to come out of the kitchen but we were enjoying a huge... More

Great German restaurant! Wonderful atmosphere and German beer on tap. They are now brewing their own beer which was very good. The potato pancakes are a must! Excellent bakery too!
