The Hat, as locals and students alike call El Sombrero, is a favorite for all! You'll find a wait on any game day, especially if you are with a large group, but it's oh so good! Try the chilaquiles, they're a favorite! Service is decent, drinks are good, prices are reasonable...What more can you ask for?

Despite a busy lunch crowd, we were in and out in well under 30 minutes. It's cheap Mexican food, don't get your hopes up - but its good and fast.

We went for cheap Mexican food and margaritas, but the waiter would not serve my husband alcohol because his ID was worn (not expired). Bummer!

We took my college student here for a birthday celebration. After waiting over an hour for our fajitas, asked to speak with the manager. I think her name was Marcelena (not sure I have it right). She shared that although the restaurant was not very busy (no wait), and that she knew we'd waited over an hour for med steak... More

We ate here in college in the late 80's and early 90's. It was a favorite. We were not disappointed. We had fajitas, quesadillas and enchiladas. All really really good. Will definitely go back when in the 'Boro

Two of these are nasty little hole in the walls. One is brand new and nice but the food is fast food mexican that is subpar and overpriced. There are better mexican resturants in town.

Beautiful place, interesting 2 stories. Different from most mexican restaurants that i have experienced. I am used to the verde sauce to being milder. I am used to getting rice AND beans, not one or the other. Maybe the food here in TX is different. The drinks i believe is the upside! My pina colada was blah, but the rainbow... More
