If you go, whatever you do, do not get the chicken pot pie. It was disgusting and the sad thing was that the waitress recommended it! The other dishes are so so. The crab cakes are good, but there are definitely better ones at restaurants that are cheaper in that same area. The buns for the sandwiches are not good... More

Friendly place with good service. Beware the chicken wings - they are actually large breasts. Very tasty but very filling! Crab cakes lived up to their reputation. Full of white crab meat and virtually nothing else.

I went their for dinner thinking about the pot roast. I go to a place in Hudson Ohio called Hudsons which has excellent pot roast and was looking to replicate it. The salad and the pot roast were brought at the same time which is not what I am used to. The salad was fresh and the dressing very good.... More

We had soup and crab cake... Why not? Tasty stuff! (Price on the high side but worth the experience.)

We will be eating here often during our visit. I kept saying, " Oh my goodness". Stopped in second time for just a cup of She Crab Soup.

I completely misjudge the richness and portions so actually over did it when I ordered. Be careful because you get way more than you realize and the food is very, very rich! I ordered the cup of she crab soup and which had way more crab meat than normally served in restaurants. Real, heavy cream must have been used to... More

I try to go to Barbara Jean's each time I am in this area. I have NEVER been disappointed. The crab cakes are the best ever! My wife has difficulty deciding between the crab cakes and shrimp. Other family members have difficulty getting away from the country cooking. You can't go wrong here no matter what you order.

We just had a very unpleasant encounter with a manager at Barbara Jean's. We have loved Barbara Jean's for 15+ years, so it was a shock to run into this jerk. We had ordered a 1.5 liter bottle of wine for three people, which we knew was too much for us to drink. We planned to take the rest home.... More

Barbara Jean's is a diner in the village on St. Simon's Island. The decor is a little dated, but the diner is bright and airy with a real diner feel. They celebrate southern coastal cooking with crab cakes, southern fried catfish, and shrimp and grits. And you can order them with southern sides, such as red beans and rice, black... More

The crabcakes are the real deal -- crab without a lot of fillers or junk. Very large, very filling. Delicious.
